  1. Looks like it failed on google search part of ie 8 install -I will see if I can see anything on web but initial thoughts are remove google search from ie and try reinstall. Sorry not much help at the moment
  2. To get to the File, edit, tools etc try using the short cut keys Alt +f goes to File - for some reason MS have decided that the "old fashioned" navigation is not required! Personally I would firstly try a reinstall of IE8 or more likely, get the data off of the system, my documents, favourites, email folder etc and then reinstall windows completly! I know it is a big job but at least you get a clean install - just remember that you will need all of the driver disks (Most importantly the Network card to get you back on to the internet) and then when you have rebuilt Windows Install and Anti virus FIRST and then get all of the MS down loads. It will take a while - if you have an older reinstall set of CD'swith Windows XP SP2 then expect to do in the region of 130 updates!! If you need any further advice then go ahead - its a big part of my day job! Andy
  3. looks a good conversion - where did you get the kit? I was tempted by GBS kit and thm fitting it but then things happened and I did not have the money! Do the cycle wings just attach to the top of the wishbone?
  4. Do you have any pics of the conversion - It is something that I am thinking about but £'s and kids are coming first at the moment!! Andy
  5. If you do get them on a torrent I would appreciate the link please - like a lot of people I brought a "finished" car but like to see how things where recommended to be done!

    Ron Champion

Please may I have a copy - PM sent
  7. OK perhaps I am being a little thick but how do I know if I have an unleaded head? I bought the car built (OK - I did want to build one but got caught in the 6 months of RH "developing" their super and not selling 2b) and I have been running unleaded but not sure if I should have been! Andy
  8. Thanks for all the tips - I have not checked on the forum rules so please do not shoot me but any ideas for a good source for head gasket / other spares? As to Prince William - well I just do not like the idea of Charly being king! Hope the Orange juice was not off and responsible for a bad head! Whilst I have head off what else do you think it will be worthwhile doing? Andy
  9. Thanks for all of your comments - I suspect that when I read this in a less tired moment that my initial post was badly worded - my daughter (23 months) has been ill and up a lot during the night and up early in the morning! Looks like I will have to have the head off and replace the head gasket - I am guessing a simple compression check be worth while first? Its a bog standard pinto - not fuel injected and I forgot to say that I checked the clearances learly in the year (after having to retap the threads due to the builder bodging in mis-sized bolts) so not had rocker cover off recently! (2 daughters under 2 is severly limiting my "tinkering" time!) Once again thanks for the comments - now to look at haynes and try and find a good spares supplier!

    Pinto Problems

Ok - this may be a lengthy question so please be patient... I am having a few problems with my 2 l pinto namely... 1) loud taping noise (not the clearances - they have been checked) 2) loss of water through exhaust pipe 3) does seems to not have much power 4) cooling system issues (Polo rad and sealed resevoir loss of coolant, air locks) 5) very smelly engine (petrol) Do you think that they are related? I am beginning to suspect head gasket. Engine starts fine - I have not checked rocker for any emulsion yet though! I have to admit to buying ready built so I do not know history of donor car. I am wondering if it might be best to pick up a new donor car and swap the engine - if so would it be best to stick to a sohc pinto or swap to a newer engine. Again sorry for the lengthy question ! Andy
  11. May be able to do it if you know what you are doing - remeber that I bought it assembled so have to try and learn everything by how it comes apart! Does anyone know of some good instructions anywhere?
  12. Good idea about the drill and tap - however how do i get all of the bits to fit into the space? (going to take a look at this convert to wishbones me thinks! BUT I want to get back on the road in our summer before it ends!)
  13. Hi I am having similar problems to yourself with the sliding pillar - I am also a "second hand" buyer but I don't have any videos at all! I have nearly got mine back together after having to replace a cycle wing bracket but can not work out how to get all of the components back in the space! Just wondered if you had any ideas! I have (from the bottom) M8 (fine pitch) Nylock nut Washer The bottom bracket of the 2b metal "cup" held in by 3 bolts Rubber donut main wheel bearing assembly cycle wing bracket spring shocker mounting bracket what looks like a cuped bearing short conical tube top bracket (slotted) of the 2b oval plate top nut having a nightmare trying to put it all back as their is no space to get the cuped bearing and short conical tube under the top bracket. Does anyone have any clues? (plus does anyone have a source for the m8 fine pitch (1mm) nylock??)
  14. Thanks for all the advice Guys I will get a pic soon but managed to get some brackets fabricated (useful working where they do sheet metal design (amongst othr things!)) out of 3mm steel with integral "wings" Would make a tad wider next time (spring tight on the sides of the wings) but I can't complain !! Now to move the tonne of gravel mr Jewson decided to place so I cant get the kit out of the drive !
  15. Do you mean adding some weld to the inside edge of the backet ? I was wondering about having some "wings" folded into the bracket to add extra support. I dont know what has happened to my bracket but I will be taking a good look at the near side as well ! - See below for the completly fractured bracket!
  16. Cheers for the offer - things have progressed as always ! My Dad decided to have a quick look while I was at work today - I now have a dismantelled suspension and seperate plate ! - Well the plate is cracked into 3 pieces ! (I will get a pic!) Next to get a new one fabricated ! - Hopefully work willl be able to cnc punch and bend then I just need the "conduit" bending and welding. Then a reassembly - Dad has left me some descriptions but biggest thing was he only managed to get 1 compressor on because of the layout of the suspension! Anyway I will get the bracket fabricated and let you know how it goes ! Back to rewiring the cooliing fan now ! Andy PS I am from Stafford
  17. As a buyer rather than builder (well I couldn't get a kit with the all singing dancing titanium coated model being introduced !) I now need to remove the cycle wing bracket as it has cracked! I am guessing I need to compress the spring, slide the top end out and hey presto (well remove a couple of nuts!) and the support plate will be removable ! Any tips as the prospect of springs scares me ! Thanks for any tips ! Andy
  18. Hi Guys and Gals Any chance of scanning and mailing me a drawing assembly of the sliding pillar ? My recently aquired (Sorry I got one fully built after the "suspension" of 2b sales!) has decided that it does not like its mounting plates for the front wings and I need to strip down the assembly to remove an refabricate the plates so a diagram would be useful. Thanks Andy
