  1. Think im going to go that route as I don't think there is an off the shelf that will work.

Problem with universal is that I can't find a suitable end for the pedal box so it means relying on me being able to fabricate something that will work in practice, as well as theory, to adapt the pedal box connection. My thoughts on this at the moment is a small piece of box section with a hole top and bottom, one to fit over the pedal connector and the other for the cable to pass through and then fit a solderless nipple on the end that will stop the cable coming back through.

Having typed that out I'm now thinking one on the bottom and one on the side rather than top so it pulls in a horizontal motion and no vertical motion... Any thoughts anyone?

  2. I had an original sierra one, although needs replacing as poor condition, and the inner wasn't long enough, and I can't shorten the outer without cutting the captive end off the inner.

Not sure why it is like this but possibly because of the way my pedal box has been positioned and/or the linkage i am using, I have seen a few pintos with a different linkage to the one I have which look as though they would require a shorter amount inner cable.

Or maybe I am just making things awkward for myself?

  3. Ah ok, yes I have worked out a way to use a universal one with that type of end, which is looking likely.

I have a suitable outer already so may buy a cycle brake line and a suitably sized nipple.

  4. Thanks Mick. My main problem seems to be the inner not being long enough, I will measure how much inner I need showing and if someone could measure there's that would be great.

Worst cones to the worst I will order a universal one and make something up to convert the pedal box end to take a solderless nipple.

  5. Did have a look on eBay and although there are ones with the right end for the throttle linkage on the carb but can't see anything suitable for the pedal box. May just Buy one of them and make up an adaptor.

  6. Soni had a throttle cable with my kit that fitted the throttle linkage and kind of fitted at the pedal box end, although it was loose and wold fall off. It's also in pretty poor condition so want to replace it.

Problem is I can't find any that lOok the same as I have. My pedal box end has a ball type connector and the cable had a top hat type arrangement, although an open hoop may be a better option?

After all that, what I want to know is what cable should I be buying?

  7. Personally I would buy an MNR as I feel they offer the highest quality product and can provide a totally comprehensive kit (just add fluids!) which is what I would want.

The MNR chassis is all round tube and IMO the chassis looks better put together than other manufacturers. I saw some chassis' at autosport that had some very ugly looking welds on them

  8. Was talking to qwerty about this car today, can guarantee that having been mapped by TDF on their EC1 ecu that this will be a fantastic piece of kit. Matt at TDF has the Midas touch when it cones to engine control!
