HI Richard

Could be worth ringing the SVA centre that you intend to use (Shrewsbury?), they all have help lines manned by the inspectors.

ask if they are okay for you to use the Mountney one, Chadderton SVA dont really have a problem with them as long as the screw holes are filled with silicone.

Also ask if there are anypoints that they want to see done better.

could save a retest

Well I had a chat with the examiner at Shrewsbury and he sounds VERY thorough and by the book. Insisted on the mountney wheel being padded and implied that he might fail it unless it had a collapsible boss???? Surely the sierra wheel didn't have a collapsible boss.

I'm going to leave it on anyway - Steve I will PM you; thanks for the offer.

Does anyone know the current whereabouts of these? I tried to buy them off 'Kevin' a while back, but it was agreed that they would be donated to the club for members to use at SVA

So who's got 'em?

(They are the indicator extenders by the way) :p

TerryBarry is correct, it is the column that counts not the boss.

Elwe & I went to Yeading and had an Inspector as well as the exaniner.

On the day the examiner said WE HAVE AN INSPECTOR, don't expect any logic or to pass the Inspector is A xxxxxxx.

Prior to the first test the examiner, Malcom, answered all my questions. Malcom said look on the 1st test as a dummy run, find out the problems; fix them and pass next time!

The Inspector took all day looking for point to fail us on, a 4 page list. Needless to say some of these were OTT and we passed next time. While the Inspector looked at the louvers in the bonnet and the plastic washer jets he didn't look twice at the steering wheel. We had filled the screws with silicone but that was all. We failed on the cigar lighter!

See all this by following the link below to Alan Link Page and surfing to SVA
