The last thing I wanted to do was change perfectly good sierra hung pedals but the master cylinder and servo want to be in the same bit of space as the throttle bodies on a zetec conversion. So I have gone floor mounted which also creates some space on the scuttle shelf for ECU relays and fusebox. If you prefer hung pedals then a Mk2 escort pedal box is available, the cylinders being mounted to the rear of the pedals. Either way twin brake cylinders with balance bar will be nice (but pointlessly OTT in a road Hood).

Scotmac, I know it doesn't look very impressive down the footwell but bear in mind its five years old and I've just torn out all the carpets and heat barrier felt the scuttle is not removable, its cold, I'm old, long sighted and suffer from blood pressure and vertigo, I just want it to work not look pretty, I'm pi**ed off with it and the job is a pain in the anus. Apart from that 'I'm lovin' it'. ;)

Got to finish the pedal box first. Takes me about 3 minutes to get out from the footwell except for the time I failed and had to stop for a rest and I've headed the end of the steering column a couple of times. Will finish it tomorrow.

Just for fun Wilwood cylinders are tapped for a 3/8 UNF outlet and a 7/16 UNF inlet. Why can't Americans count to ten!

Apologies to Scotmac. ;)

You don't know how many times I've uttered that same phrase or one like it in the last year :D

Mind you, at least they know how to measure speed & distance on the road :)

Is that a custom pedal box you've made or a bought jobby??

Keep going... I'm taking notes... (be interesting to compare a zetec with an XE on the track.... maybe you & Bob T :) )

I bought the pedal box from MNR as I thought it would fit OK. It did however need a bit of alteration to fit up against the tunnel side. If I were doing it again I would save £100+ and buy an escort mk2 pedal box from Rally Design.

Compare a zetec and an XE on track? Fairly close I would think. Seem to remember that it's mostly about the driver and car setup!

Less of the cheek young James. You saw my performance in the carts! :boohoo:

I'm not changing engines for any other reason than to gain the reliability and smoothness of a more modern power plant. There should be less vibration and noise and I hope to gain some economy by fitting the throttle bodies and more efficient camshafts. If I can find some nice soft tyres then the car will be just perfect for pottering along to church on Sundays!

Yes, all about car setup & more so driver on track like Barkston but less so on somewhere like Llandow where there are some long straights.

Barkston is fairly forgiving for a reasonable driver due to the technical nature. That's what allowed me to get reasonable times even in that shopping trolley with no brakes & with the sliding pillock....

So, you are going w/ a more powerful engine (more hp), TB's (w/ EFI/etc and new ECU i assume...more hp), modified camshafts (more hp)...and you are claiming it is strictly for reliability and smoothness....GOOD ONE!!! ;)
