Our new Series 3A has seperate dials on the dash - but they have a problem!

Fuel, volts and tach are the only that function correctly......water temp, oil pressure and speedo do not! I'll explain what I've found:

Water Temp - looks like it has no sender, nothing in the block or rad! (I assume on a Sierra they are in the rad). What do I need to get my gauge working?

Oil Pressure - the chap who built it has just connected it up to the stock sender (which is a good/bad switch), no good for a gauge. Any ideas where I can get a sender that will fit the Pinto 2L or what size and type the thread is?

Speedo - no cable is there!!!!!! Oh dear, I've heard this can be nasty!!!

Feel like a bit of a forum hog at the moe but I am so new to all this Hoody stuff! Thanks in advance for your help!

Temp sender for the gauge is in the head towards the front just under the front end of the inlet manifold. There are several senders available depending what gauge is fitted.

Oil pressure sender will have to be the one that matches the gauge and will require an adapter, most people use a T with one outlet for the switch so as to still keep it, and the other for the gauge sender, I am assuming the gauge is electronic and not capillary.

Spedo - is it cable driven? Or is it electronic and it’s just a case that the pickup is not working. If it is cable then you need a cable and the circlip that retains it in the g/box plus lots of patience.

Just about to post then red Chris's answer, i concure.

If you have oil temp as well then you either need a take off from the oil filter, usually combined with oil cooler take off, or an inline sender adaptor (this needs earthing), again only works with oil cooler fitted.

To have original warning light, oil pressure sender and oil temp sender from the one block hole can be done but would need a T piece and a remote capilary to make it work.

You could cut a hole in the tunnel side and run a cable, you could try a 90 deg adaptor (90 quid) fitted throught the gearlever hole, but i bet you still have to cut a hole to fit the retaining circlip or you could go for and electric speedo fit magnets to the rear of the propshaft to diff mount and make a bracket to hold the sender( 120 ish)

In the mean time some people use bike speedos to good effect.

Just need to sort oil pressure and speedo now!

Did get a T-piece but worked out the block thread wrong....is it 1/4 BST?
