Many many years ago there was a police skid pan at Tempsford, on the A1 near Bedford. I had a go once, it was great fun but they were not keen on using your own cars. They used prototype Vauxhalls which were due to be crushed fitted with skinny slick remoulds. I worked at Vauxhall at that time. I have not heard anything about it for years though.

How about an 'Activity Day' at North Weald. Looks like clubs can book it. Details on Car Limits link

Hi Tim and all,

I was thinking along the lines of a "Car Limits" day at North Weald when reading down the thread I came across your post.

I have done one of these and can vouch for them. They are great fun, you learn a lot about handling your car, they are run on an open airfield so plenty of space to spin and hoon about, plus the "Activity Days" are quite affordable. They used to be around £35 for the day.

They are different from the instructional days which start to cost a lot more.

Andrew Walsh is a talented instructor/race driver who has been instrumental in the success of the "Lotus Elise Trophy" race series.

No, I don't work for him and am not on commission.

From memory he will do an "Activity Day" with 20 cars at a very reasonable price.

You won't even have to take the Hood, a normal "Tin Top" is allowed and just as much fun. I remember some Guys (including me) in Lotus Elise's having our a**es whooped by a young Girl in a VW Golf TDI. (and I don't mean to be sexist).

Would there be any interest if I organised something?

Steve
