Hi all,

Has anyone got any tips for removing a hub bolt that the head has sheared and the bolt is rusted to an extent that the car can be lifted off the axle stands when trying to be undone. It's the rear right hub, lower bolt. I would like to re-use the hub so non-destructive would be preferable. It's an MX5 if that helps.

Cheers,

Zach

Drill it out mate, start small and work your up. Hopefully it should screw out once the hole is close enough to the thread tapping size.

And-- is there enough meat around the sheared bolt to allow tapping over-size if possibly the drilled hole is a little off centre?

Nope just got basic tools from halfords, nothing spectacular :( Will probably have another look and some pictures on thursday.

Will get a picture tonight. I'm no welding expert so will leave the decision to you. I am about the weekend 2nd/3rd March and plan to have another stab at it if you're free?
