Which Steering Rack

Hi all

 

Anyone know which steering rack fits the Zero ?

 

These sold out on kits-spares, and unsure where else to look.

 

I have found some escort quick racks on the bay but unsure if these will fit ok.

 

Can some please offer some advice.

I hear the kit-spares website is a poor indication of what they actually have in stock. Not a great business strategy, but give them a ring and they may well have it.

I got an escort Mk2 quick rack, it's what GBS use, I picked one up next day delivery, brand new, for £75

Its not a good sign showing most items out of stock..

 

these a few Escort quick racks on the BAY which are well priced.

 

Will have a look, as i still have 7 weeks before i'm home to work on the car.

i believe rally design sell the escort quick racks, worth a check.

The rack supplied by GBS is I believe the mk 2 escort but has welded extensions which fit the sierra rod ends.

i thought they were modified escort racks supplied by gbs how quick is a quick rack ? i think mine is a 2.8

2.8 is quick, you can get quicker ones about 2.4 i think. The original would have been nearer 4.

any quicker than 2.8 and the car will be twitchy at speed my westy was a nightmare at speed as is the mev will be swapping out to a slower rack at some point

Just looked on kit spares mines 2.9 not 2.8 is there a noticeable diffrents I never realised the originals were as high as 4 lol is that because they r from an older car or are most standard racks about that ? Just curious really I won't be changing mine lol

The Sierra was a pretty heavy car at the front end and had no power steering at first.

so 4 turns allowed wimpy armed reps to park them in tight spots.

Not sure about the Escorts tho' never had one.
