Twin 40S Fitted, Won't Start

Everybody I have spoken to says not to touch the cold start levers as they are very prone to leaking. Mine starts with three sharp prods of the throttle to squirt some fuel in now that it has the correct idle jets in it. My floats were way out leading to flooding with fuel pouring out until I reset them to the correct levels. God only knows why people piddle about with things they don't understand.

All the reading I've done says webers cold starts have issues but the dellorto ones are much better. Simple fact is it starts using the cold start system and doesn't without, so I need to use them.

Duck - not true! I ran twin 40 dellorto's on my pinto for years without any cold start! Just a few dabs on the throttle before I turned the key was all that was needed.

Steamer I am not denying they can be started in that way on a pinto, however the only way my car will start is by using the cold start system.

is your accelerator pump working correctly? IMO something is wrong if the engine won't fire up after a couple of stamps on the noisy pedal!

 

both my twin 40 dellortos and twin 48 webers never had any cold start linkage.

Think I'll have another look over bits then before wasting time building linkages and I've got plenty to be getting on with anyway do should probably crack in and finish te rest of the build!
