Decibel Apps

Hi,

Anyone used a decibel app and are they accurate enough to prevent a nasty surprise at iva?

Is there such a thing as an IVA silencer that can be changed after?

Struggling to find a repackable one.

_{you can get a db killer attatcment for the exhaust.}

_{or buy a larger can that's repackable plenty are available if you know where to look. Not cheap though}

Simspon race exhausts will make you a repackable can to pretty much any size you fancy. Brace for wallet impact, though

I've yet to look into what I've got but its prob Tiger kit issue and bloomin loud. Quite thought on here there would be an IVA can that members moved amongst each other when the need arose.

Try MK sports cars or MK engineering ,Martin will sort it, but as said not cheap but all stainless and repackable mower man, its only fitted once if it's right!

The iPhone App is OK, but make sure you check the dB at the correct RPM. I ended up getting a new silencer welded to my Robin Hood supplied exhaust to pass the IVA, not cheap but my IVA retest deadline was too near to spend time on a cheaper solution.

if you put two iphones side by side with the same app running they give different results (not worth the risk of failing IVA)

You don't need a new exhaust. You just need to kill the performance of the engine. The trick that we used to do in the days of SVA, was either jam a load of wire pan scourers up the pipe, or tack a small stainless steel baffle / restriction into the pipe. It will seriously screw up your power, but will get you through IVA. If you then decided to take it out after IVA, then that is up to you!!

i found a app for iphone called decibel 10th not used it on car yet,but from memory i think HSS hire shops have them decibel meters
