yeah ran with cap of on tick over till will take no more water so pretty sure there no air lock.

Have you got 16mm hose from pump to inlet manifold fitted?

If so this can be the highest part of the system, I fitted a T piece with small cap which I fill to eliminate air

I would think a header tank would help as the radiator will be lower than the water jacket in the head

could always jack the front end really high,where is your expansion tank. it needs to be highest point of the system

How do you fill with water..didnt think polo rads had a cap.?

i put a filler neck on fitted to the top hose inbetween the rad top and the thermostat housing not got a pic.it has a over flow hose to a overflow bottle.

did put a thermostat in today it seems to have worked fingers crossed the rad is hot at top and not as hot at bottom but hot still and fan kicks in so ordered new gauge and sender as the gauge went of the reading so ona wait till new gauge gets here and see what readings are.

new gauge fitted and no cure still goes 100+ can i block the pipe on the water pump to heater and inlet manifold as not got a heater matrix?

my pipe from the water pump goes around the back of the engine to the inlet manifold.

 

I run a civic rad. a 80 degree stat and it never goes above 90 . so theres an issue somewhere.

what width is the rad you use?

its about 40mm but its area is small compared to the polo ones. the core is approx. 13 inch square

not sure if everything is wired right now the temp gauge gets its reading from the sendor in the head and says 100+ the fan switch is supposed to kick in at 93 but not sure how to check temp in rad.

I used a temp sensor on a multi meter. turned out mine was a bad earthed engine.
