hi there guys just been on dvla website looking at tax ok seems they have changed the system

From April 2014, the classic car exemption from VED will begin rolling from 40 years, with cars built before January 1974 eligible for a zero-rated tax disc. Then, from January 2015, the formerly fixed cut-off, will become a rolling one ok so my car on v5 says its a robin hood no modle no then body type saloon and date built 06 06 74 so come first of jan 2015 will i get free road tax ?? just unsure as its a kit car still on old reg plate too was built from dolly sprint any thoughts ????

My view would be if dvla will only give a age related plate then how can they say a car was built in say 1990 so not tax exempt when they would not have given a current plate for 1990

Depends whether it's on a Q plate or an age related one - Q plates can't be tax exempt because the age of the vehicle is effectively indetermined. If it's got Robin Hood on the V5 then it's correctly registered but does the V5 say the build date is 06/06/74? I thought the key date is the date it was first registered?

If that's still June 74 and it's not on a Q plate, I think it should be tax exempt from next year.If the V5 says it's a Robin Hood build in 74 then it also sounds like a DVLA error in your favour because RH didn't start making kits until the 80's
