I had 2 fingers broken by the cane. Caught smoking at lunch time. Taught me a lesson

Yeah Know exactly what you mean our one had a "B" in his Bonnet about Sand Paper and Glass Paper one young Guy used to wind him up all the time and ask for a Sheet of Sand Paper and was Welted Across his Forehead with the Lump of Dowelling which bought up a really wonderful lined Bruise. I am sure no one would be able to get away with it now though.

Ah -- the chalk-board rubber -- a missile of choice if the first stage stick of chalk didn't work (when I was teaching) trouble was the student would throw it back.

A school friend ended up in hospital after our Mongolian (Yeah really!) maths teacher

threw a blackboard rubber at him.

Unfortunately he was facing backward chatting, when the rubber hit him on the back of the head.

To this day I still dont know if he was scamming, but it was one hell of a whack.

No repercussions at all, the teacher carried on as if nothing had happened.

To give some chance of avoidance -- the lads always knew when the rubber was about to take flight.
