New Laminated Windscreen

I did tell some of the local South Yorks area ish gang about this at the July meet last night. New laminated windscreen for my 3A purchased from Grassmoor Glass who are on Storforth lane industrial estate in Chesterfield. I took the old windscreen in as a template and left it with them overnight. The new windscreen was cut to size and all edges were rounded off. The total cost inc VAT was £39. I know this is only of use to anyone in the area but due to the very reasonable price I thought it worth mentioning.

I don't think that price could be beaten. Unless of course you have a friend in the business.

I paid similar prices in Worksop twice but they were not IVA compliant , 6mm laminated probably above spec but I was happy mick

Look on the bright side David, if it had been a toughened on you might have been wearing it or worse.

The new one has cracked across a bottom corner. So in all honesty its down to me not getting it quite square in the frame. Its still serviceable, just annoying.

Hi Dave.

It could be an mot fail if the examiner is the strict type.

Rules state that any crack reaching two edges is unsafe.

This also include a u shape, both edges off the same side.

It doesn't even have to be in area A. It's anywhere on the screen.

 

Don't intend being the grim reaper, I'm just letting you know about the two edgy thingy.

personally wouldnt even try. If they think you are trying to pull a fast one you are going to have a hell of a time with every little detail.

I have no intention of using one myself (found them while searching for something else), but noticed the seller recons he's had lots of positive feedback for them. I could understand if they were laser cut stickers but printed ones like that....might as well just use a marker pen
