School Closure Auction

Recommended Posts

As some of you may know, my wife was made redundant from a Charitable School for Deaf Children which closed just before Christmas.

There is an auction of school items, see link.

http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/timed/es-group/catalogue-id-ed10463?page=1

It isn't just school chairs/tables etc, they had residences, kitchens, IT department, workshops, vehicles, medical centre and loads of other equipment that was used in the education and wellbeing of disabled children and young adults.

They even had a hairdressing training salon - maybe some members may be interested in this =@ .

A lot of the kit is high quality - it would be a shame to see it go to waste.

I have no connection with this auction - just putting the disclaimer in.

Hopefully there are items that someone can put to good use.

Ask mr Cameron.

He just might give you an honest answer but I very much doubt it.

Or you could try their next illustrious leader. Not much chance of another U turn till next month though. Because this months has already been used.

Al i have got to say i found it really sad looking through that auction. What is happening to the kids who used too go to the school?

The kids were returned to their LEA's (Local Education Authority). They were probably put back into mainstream schooling, which they couldn't cope with because of their disability / emotional problems (or combination of), or re-allocated to other 'specialist' educational facilities.

A lot of the kids were very upset, obviously and it was also very emotional for the staff.

When you consider the £40 million or so that Kidscape charity received from the 'public' purse, with no accountability or anything to show for the money it does make you angry and think.............

Half of that amount would have secured the school for possibly 20+ years and allowed them to sort out some 'issues' caused by poor leadership...

Still the school had only been established since 1792, so only 270+ years of history down the pan

I just think that the modern day number crunchers are not human beings.

It appears to me they just don't care about fellow man. Must be thinking "if I can save so much, I will get a pay rise. Or a knighthood even.
