Rear Fog Lights.

Betty went for her first MOT, today.

There were a few things I thought she might fail on which she did in fact pass.

However she did fail on other items.

Number plate light, fair enough I should have spotted that one.

The tester wouldn't test for emissions because he needed proof of the engine age, otherwise he would test for a 2013 car.

Don't think Pintos were in production then but, I wont be smart about it.

Lastly, she failed on the fog light not coming on with dip beam.

She lights the place up on high beam, so does this sound like a wiring or relay problem?

If it is a relay, how would I identify it?

If he won't accept the Burton, try a ford owners forum or even a main dealership to get the age off them in print.

Have you got a copy of the IVA. That should have proof of engine age.

Thanks for the advice, chaps.

She passed today, so all is good in the end.

The number plate light was just a bulb,

The guy at the garage accepted the Burton document as proof of age and he also fixed the Fog light problem, for a very reasonable price indeed.

Interestingly the Burton table showed that the original engine was a lot older than the donor car.

I probably learn something new every day, I just forget it ,just as quickly.
