If your dizzy is not a vacuum advance it will be a mechanical advance dizzy..bobs n springs type stuff. So you just need to block the manifold take off, or you will be sucking in air and leaning the mixture.not good.

You will need to ensure the mechanical advance curve is suitable for your application tho.

Not on a dizzy. The Aldon ignitor is a cracking but of kit, I had the ignitor 2 with matching coil on my lotus twincam before going EFI. The only thing it adjust is the dwell time to create a bigger spark under certain conditions.like start up and hard throttle openings. The actual spark timing is set as it would be.

To clarify, Burtons should supply the Aldon with a suitable mechanical advance curve for your pinto and no vacuum mechanism. The electronics are all contained inside the dizzy.

Ford electronic dizzys are of at least three types, have external electronic units (ESC, ESC2, TFI) and have vacuum advances either on the dizzy or in the external electronic box.

All dizzys need to be fitted in the right rotational position to set the base spark timing which the mechanics or electronics then modify when running according to engine speed and load.
