Hi all,

Can anyone tell me if the legal mounting position for the sidelights is the same as the headlights? I can see that the headlights need to be min 500mm from ground but not sure if this also applies to sidelights.

Thanks ,

Lew

They're in the IVA guide (table 1) but referenced as "position lamps"... 400mm max in from the side, max 1500mm high (or 2100 if impractical) and at least 250mm off the ground. And bear in mind the angles of visibility ;)

Just to add --- 400 mm is max in from the widest part of your car -- so if the rear track/wheel arches are wider than the front then this is the relevant measurement.

I've decided to change the headlights to one that incorporates a side light. Hopefully this will suffice.

I was thinking of putting them below the headlights either side of the nose cone on the exmo strut arms, but considering the angles of visibility, this is probably not the best place for them.

Check by careful measurement -- or ask your local IVA Test Centre -- re-tests are/were £90  a time.
