Hey guys was thinking of buying my first kit car for a weekender I can trash about and enjoy etc..  the car has a 2l punto engine and was built in 1973 or around that time, it will be mot/tax exempt. The guy is asking £4000 and was wondering if it is a good price etc.. thoughts?

£4k sounds a bit fruity for something that old but I'll let more knowledgeable people comment on that. By the way, it was registered in 1979, so not quite as old as you thought...

However, MOT history looks good - no horror stories in there...

It’s a series 3a which is based on a Sierra, they came out in ‘82 so a bit odd, I wonder what the donor was claimed to be?

Sounds like this is not correctly registered.  It must have been built in the late 1990s and so should have been SVA tested - the first registered date on the V5 would then have shown as 1998 or later.   I would have a good study of the V5 before buying this if you want to run it on the road.
