Hi everyone, used to be a member but picking up a 2b this week, and back into kit cars again. The car I’ll probably be making a deal on is absolutely lovely ,probably a show car, the only problem I can find twin webers needs referb and then tuning, but on the other hand would bike carbs be better. I don’t mind the cost because the car is superb.cheers Dave

I would prefer Webers every time but it's very much down to personal choice.  There are pros & cons with both.

The Webers should be fairly east to overhaul (or get overhauled) assuming they're DCOEs and should already be jetted correctly if they were working OK beforehand so shouldn't need too much work to set up.  I believe a lot of the Vulcan engines were built and setup with 45DCOEs (or bigger) and intended for hard driving.

There will be a fair bit of work and parts required to swap to bike carbs and then they'll need setting up on a rolling road by someone who knows how to match them to whatever spec. cam, heads etc. you have.

Which is best depends on who you ask, what you're going to use the car for and how you want it to drive.  I bet you'll get a slightly different answer from everyone you ask and they'll all be right for them, but might not be right for you.

The link above is the Bogg brothers guide to bike carbs. You'll have to sift through the ads now though; the guide used to be ad free on the Classic Ford Mag site but I can no longer find it there.

Thank for replying, I’ve another question, last car I had was a Westfield because I’m 6ft 3ins I lowered the floor on the drivers side by approx 50 mm which made a massive difference. Paid a deposit on a robinhood  not picking up till next week so unable to have a look at it to see if I can do it on this car, does anyone know if it’s possible cheers Dave
