Bill where are you??

I'm here :D :D :D

You mean "Yak S**T" Chris, They stopped using that so much and now use the Blue Jointing compound Like we have used liberally on Joeys car.

Peter

I would use jointing compound on all the Joints including the Ally to Ally ones, remembering to coat all your Fastners, nuts and bolts as well.

Thats what they do on Aircraft and the aircraft panels have usually been at the very least primed as well :D :D

If you want to use aviation stuff for sealing joints you try looking at "SEMKIT" a two part polysulphide rubber compound. Type A is a brushing sealant suitable for sealing aircraft fuel tanks. Type B is a filleting sealant for use on aircraft skins etc. It ain't cheap though! around £25 a kit. The Yakum ("Yak S**T") is JC5A. Do an interweb search, you'll find somewhere that will sell it. e.g lightaero.

Never heard of "SEMKIT" is it like "PRC" ?

I think he would be fine with the "JC5A" for assembling bits and sealing it all up with RTV sealant like you get in B&Q etc.

We have used PRC on our fuel tank which works well.

That’s the stuff JC5A and is what I would use after first using a good etch primer. But I think unless you are used to PRC or SEMKIT if that is what it is, would be difficult to use unless you are used to the stuff as you could end up with a right mess.

Bloomin hell... if JC5A was next to the PCD6 then the 48RSJ would need fixing to the PU285 which would affect the S41T but not the other 5t3ff

Are you lot talking in code or what... How about some english :p

  • 1 month later...

Got my pre-collection letter yesterday. Apparently, I can collect the kit

from next Wednesday, 20th July, and RH are on holiday for the first fortnight

in August. I haven't QUITE (no where near) finished preparing my donor bits, so maybe I'll wait until after the hol!

At Newark, the Lightweight on the stand had some really neat front uprights. Anyone know what they were? Perhaps aftermarket ones? They looked loads better than sierra / escort uprights. Not sure if you might lose points for an age related number plate??

If they are actually part of the kit.... In the kit you probably get a video telling you how to modify a fairy liquid bottle with some packing tape & the spring out of some biro's.. :D

theres not a chance they are part of the kit, same with the brakes,

I think they were Raceleda, all alloy uprights and wilwood 4 pot calipers.

may have names wrong, but the specs correct.

Back end was same.

They are brand new units so souldnt make regestration a problem

I asked the guy on the stand (NEW young Richard  ) but he wasn't sure what they were, if they were included in the kit, where they were sorced from or if Robin Hood would stock them as an accessory <_<

Regarding what Bill was saying about the Zeemerides (he's right of course, they got most of us on the road, myself included) wouldn't it be a good idea for Robin Hood to offer an upgrade or delete option?

Also, I sent an eMail to them yesterday asking how heavy the Pinto based one they have built is (it's ready for SVA apparently), and could they show a picture of the front uprights as I'd heard they were quite interesting..?

No reply yet. <_<
