  1. As suggested by Chris, I sent an email at the end of May to DVLA requesting a VIN and I have received a formal reply with various forms and the allocated VIN number today. Not bad just on 2 weeks. Now that I have this I have a number of questions which I hope some one can help with - DVLA request that the dealer or local garage confirm and sign a declaration which is part of the letter I received that the VIN is correctly stamped or embossed in the chassis, is this something to worry about or is it checked as part of the IVA inspection and signed by the inspector. - As for the VIN marking how is the best way to do this, do you stamp an area on a stainless chassis tube or is there another way that might be easier as I am not sure how easy it is to stamp a stainless steel tube or what are the best stamps to use. 2. I think it is a bit big for that, I did think that it might be a boot lid but nothing I can find suggested that this is included with the kit
  3. I have this panel with my 2 b kit which I have no idea what it’s for. It measures about 700 x 500 mm can anyone advise

    Sad News.

This is sad to hear I meet Bob a number of times over the years and had received some good advice during my what is now a very long build. I am sure he will be greatly missed by all. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time. Steve D
  5. Thanks Richy, I have been taking loads of photos all the way through my build so can certainly can show them every aspect if asked. Steve D
  6. For any one interested I have worked on my solution to move the seat belt mounts and the solution i have is as per photos. Hope this passes IVA it is very strong as I have used 10mm thick bar. Steve D
  7. Chris I had originally planned to bolt direct to floor but having narrow seats the inner runner mounting fell in the cut out area of the Iva panel and would only be fixed to the SS floor which was a shame and not good Steve D
  8. Good point That’s something I will need to check . I have the Intrim Oddessy seats which fit really well. The runners are low profile so with the bar the seat base is about 30 mm off the floor which should be okay as I am not that tall
  9. Chris, Thanks for your response, I have fitted the GBS IVA floor panel which is a 3 mm steel plate across the car supported in the center by the structure in the photo below and the chassis tubes at the side. The center structure also has 5 mm plate spreaders so that the floor and IVA panel are sandwiched in between, I used the 10mm bar to add additional support to the runners and to lift the runners off of the floor so that the seat would run over the rear sierra frame fixings which you can see in the photo. May be a bit over engineered but I really don't think any of it is going to move in an accident. Steve D
  10. I have made a subframe as per photo to fix my seats to the floor plate. Would it be a good idea to weld the runners to the 10mm thick bars or should the 8 mm bolts into tapped holes in the bars be sufficient. Your views would be appreciated Steve D
  11. I have a new one spare if you want to pm me to discuss Steve D
  12. Yep I fitted the GBS Iva floor plate so it’s all very strong over the complete floor area
  13. Thanks for the response I have some 5mm plate and having thought a bit more over night I was going to use this to make a plate that would pick up the current fixing point and also be bolted to the vertical support as per the photo. I need to move it back ideally around 160 mm
  14. Having slave fitted my seats at last I find that the seat belt positions I have need to be moved back. My question is can I make a plate which utilises the current belt fixing point and is fixed to the strengthened floor so that it does not rotate to recreate the fixing point further back. Steve D
  15. I was going to create a tray to mount the filler on with a drain that would take away the spill
  16. Thanks Peter, I found this out after I posted my question I have purchased 2 Mini headlight harnesses on eBay so should fix my confusion/ problem
  17. Thanks Bob for your reply, I don't think i explained very well what I want to do is move the fuel filler from the passenger rear side to a position on the top of the boot on the drivers side as this will allow me to have a very short filler hose from the filler to the new alloy tank I have. I was also going to use the Robin Hood aero cap purely as a means of blanking the old hole and it wont be connected to anything. Can you think of any problems I should look out for from an IVA point of view with this approach.
  18. Chris, Thanks for the reply, since posting this I have done a lot more research and what I have is a sealed beam unit with the Main, Dip and Earth connections hence the 3 wires as for the side light there is a clear window on the back of the sealed beam unit by the connection pins and you can buy an adapter harness that holds a standard side light filament against this window so that this will allow light into the reflector creating the side light. Good old Robin Hood circa 2004, they show the adapter for sale in their old catalogue but didn't provided them in the 2B plus kit I bought. Oh well at least is keeps the grey cells working resolving these issues. Steve D
  19. I have just opened the boxes for my 2b head lights supplied in the kit many years ago. The lights supplied have only 3 wires coming from the sealed unit connector within the metal housing. This has confused me now in that I have no idea what I use for side lights. Am I being stupid or have I been given the wrong parts within my kit steve D
  20. Please can anyone provide advice on fitting a top mounted fuel filler. Steve D
  21. Hi Guys, Has anyone fitted the GBS GRP wheel arches, any advice would be welcome. Steve D
  22. Thanks for the info, I have a right angle attached to the back edge of the floor and had intended to attach the back panel edge to this so similar thoughts
  23. Hi Bob good to hear from you after so many years. I have been working on this panel this afternoon and got it formed up and held roughly in place with clamps. so still work to do next is to tackle the inner back panel I think i will split it in two and put a joiner piece in the centre. probably an easier way to go. Steve D
  24. Can any one advise which order you would apply the bends to this panel as i am about to tackle this on my build Steve D
  25. I have fitted this floor panel to my 2b it does take some work and welding etc but it does make a neat job if you persevere Steve D
