    Timing...

Make sure it's on compression stroke on 1 with crank at TDC. ( number 1 plug out with finger over hole . Rotate crank towards TDC should feel air pushing past your finger) if not your on exhaust stroke and 180 degrees out. If the above is correct then rotor arm should be pointing and firing on one. Hope this helps
  2. Hi, I'm in Spain on hols at the mo but I think it's 2 screws in top cover? I can confirm on my return. Cheers
  3. Hi , I have a spare set of covers that came with my car. Part number 93 ABH3533-BD. I don't know whether they are escort or Sierra . Anyone know? Cheers

  5. Yes no leaks. Thought 3 was about right. I'll leave it for now. Thanks again
  6. Ok thanks. I'll keep it as it is then. It's a new mechanical pump , it was running at 4 psi does this sound about right?
  7. Cheers Ken. I still can't believe how rusty and rotten the sender was. The fuel pickup was virtually blocked. I will do as you suggest , filter at tank end then another before pump at the front. Thanks again
  8. Thank you. That will let air in as fuel is used but what happens when you fill the tank? Will it expel the air via the filler neck? I've not had any issues filling anyway! Cheers Andy

Ive got an original set in black. Came with my car, found them in the boot. Don't know whether they are Sierra or not. If you have a part number or pic I can check for you.
  10. Good idea ! I think I will do the same. Cheers
  11. Hi Guys, The tank is in very good shape thank goodness . Just bought a sender from GBS. Will replace fuel hose tomoz. The valve for the breather, can it be any one way valve? Any particular brands etc?? Cheers Andy PS . Planning on putting a filter tank end and carb end. Will this be ok?

    Tank Sender 2B

As per the title please or if you know where I can purchase one from? Possibly need tank as well?? Cheers Andy
  15. Ok quick update. I think I may have found the answer to most of my problems! The fuel gauge only ever moved a little and hovered around the red. I have just removed the sender and the tank is full of fuel but indicating virtually empty. The sender had almost rotted all the way through and seized solid! I have never seen anything like it! The fuel pick up was a rubber hose with a nylon brading which had disintegrated and rotten which has almost completely blocked the pick up. I should imagine the fuel tank is full of rust as well. Any suggestions ? Definitely need a new sender. Any info greatly appreciated Cheers
  16. Thanks for the replies. Any particular valve for the breather? Cheers
  17. Hi all, Decided to remove boot floor this evening to give it an overall. Looking at the fuel tank there is no breather. Can I vent it off the sender where the return fuel line goes as I have no fuel return ? Are the fuel caps breathable? Cheers Also thinking of changing the old rubber fuel hose while I'm at it. Any recommendations on fuel pipe?
  18. Cheers Rob. I'll have a look
  19. Hi all, Anybody reccomend a decent black paint for the roll bar and spare wheel carrier? Thoughts on Hammerite, Plastikote etc?? Cheers Andy
  20. Wish I was! Booked in a week on Monday
  21. Thanks all. Will update in a week or so when it comes back
  22. I hadn't got a torque wrench that went low enough so I just guessed and nipped them up . I put Loctite on the threads as well. I've got a drip from one of the bolts but that's it . I will put that one to bed next week!!
  23. Hi, I used a victor reinz gasket and Loctite SI 5990 sealer (halfords fiver) . Seemed to do the trick Ps dont over tighten the bolts and don't over do the sealer or else it will squidge out into the sump, possibly break off , clog the oil pick up and then engine rebuild!
