  1. Was going to ask what peoples fans are set to cut in at. Andy 1 last thing, from your diagram you have the hose from the bottom of the expansion bottle connecting to the "T" piece, is this nessecerry or can it just be blanked off as I think Dean just fitted an end stop on his (correct me if I'm wrong Dean)
  2. Thanks Andy, I think if I do change rad then I will go down the route you described
  3. Hi Alan Just re read the stuff that was sent out in newsletter 2 and It sort of makes sense, its just that dean has changed his red for the one im currently looking at and he has done away with the pipe across the engine to the bottom of expansion tank. Correct me if im wrong but looking at the rover manual the 3 pipes from the thermostat housing 1 is to the rad, 1 to the expansion tank and 1 is the outlet to the non exsistant heater with the return coming back to the bottom hose so connecting the heater supply and return shouldnt be a problem ? Looking at this image of a super spec that was up for sale a year or so ago they seem to have done away with expansion tank and it looks like they have a heater as both pipes disapear into the car. Maybe something to experiment with?
  4. Im after a little bit of help from fellow super spec owners (or previous owners), Im probably going to change the large SD1 rad for an aluminium Polo type rad (info already received from Deano) but Im also trying to loose some of the hoses that seem to be for the original heaters in the Rover. I know I can loose (block off) the one that runs across the top of the engine but there are a couple more that im sure are to do with the heater system. If you look at photos ive included The 1st picture is a small hose that comes from thermostat housing into the expansion bottle. The 2nd and 3rd pics the hose comes from a "T" piece in the bottom rad hose and loops to the thermostat housing. Can I just block these off?
  5. Quick photo of the 2 dash pieces in, just need to cover behind in leather and connect up
  6. I heard it's better to get it iva'd with no windscreen then there's no need for wipers or washers (fit them after you get it passed) I'm sure someone will correct if I'm wrong My Super spec only had one speed wipers and they're next to useless anyway
  7. have you looked at Woolies https://www.woolies-trim.co.uk/category/78/hoodings
  8. Dash back from being hydro dipped, just got to get it all wired up!!
  9. Doh!! I always forget to RTFM (read the f***#@g manual!!) which is bad considering my job as a service engineer.
  10. Hi Deano With regards the focus stalks how did you wire the lights, because on a focus the lights are turned on by a switch on dash (no problem) and the dip/main is on the stalk (that's the bit I'm unsure of)
  11. When will this be rolled out?
  12. That's the plan Dean. Drive up Saturday morning and try and get there early afternoon (Weather permitting)
  13. Good news, how's the build going? I see your down in Plymouth not far from me on Dartmoor
  14. Hi I got them off ebay , they are cheap chinese ones but the look the part and work well. Will probably upgrade them as I go but they will be fine for now. This is a link to their ebay shop https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/anoasisstate If it doesnt work then the shop is called "an oasis state"
  15. Forgot to mention I have the wiring diagram on pdf or I have some A0/A1 size paper versions if you want one
  16. Hi Lloyd Welcome to the club, I to have a super spec but only the standard one not the turbo, unfortunately I didnt build mine but I also only have 3 DVDs and I know what you mean about how useful they would be to a novice. There are a few of us with supers active on the forum so someone may have built theirs, our main "guru" is Alan Richey but I'm sure he didn't build his either.
  17. Hi Deano, I did think about cutting old dash off and leaving a lip as you say but I dont dislike the shape of the super spec dash just the escort cluster so easiest way was to make a cover for the hole thats already there. Fingers crossed it turns out ok
  18. About £40. Hope to get it back this week
  19. First attempt at covering centre console in leather, a few wrinkles but Im happy with it and may be able to stretch them out a bit
  20. Cheers for the ideas Marcus, been scouring the internet but didnt know what to call the catches I was after, the pitking look like what im after
  21. Hi Hope everyone had a good Xmas and New Year, I am currently doing a few odd jobs with the Hood whilst waiting for parts to arrive to start dash rebuild. My boot lock hasn't worked for ages and I'm sure ive seen kit cars with no visable lock and some sort of push to open mechanism. Ive looked at the magnetic type that are on kitchen doors etc but not sure if the magnets are strong enough to hold boot closed on a "bumpy" road. Any ideas or what have others used if not a normal key.
  22. Ahh ok, Will check tomorrow unless Alan or Andy beat me to it. Would be good to find something that was a little more flexible
  23. I can check mine but not till tomorrow Any reason why?
