  1. Hi Andy, Bearing set arrived this morning, I second Enforcers' comment 'Top Man'. Thanks very much, once again, for sorting these out. Cheers Al
  2. Hi John, Figure of speech concerning the posts regarding the 'future' of the SVA. By the time I get my car ready for SVA, who knows what may confront SVA applicants! Cheers Al
  3. I'll be going Sunday to hopefully say hello at long last and restore the motivation to get my bl***y car built before the SVA goes ballistic, as discussed elsewhere on the site! Al
  4. Hi Andy, I am coming over to the Outlet Centre on Friday, (it's my birthday so have day off work - 21 again!), so could pick up if you want to PM me your address. Otherwise i'll put the paypal transaction through, (the other half has the account, but leave details). Thanks very much for sorting these out. Cheers Al
  5. Hi Andy, Count me in. I'm in Ramsgate and pop over to the outlet semi-frequently, so could collect. Cheers Al
  6. Green and Blacks 70%, higher cocoa content, therefore you can charge more using the quality by design selling point!!
  7. Hi Keith, If you can hang on a couple of days, drop me a PM with your address and I will send you a copy of my build DVD with the rear panel fitting. I have been in the process of building a Super Spec for nearly 4 years now and have fitted the rear panel. There are also 2 bracing brackets that fit at the bottom rear of the panel that aren't fully explained in the video, surprise surprise, they are sort of diamond shaped. Cheers Al

    Which Fuel Tank?

Hi Joe, No problem, Monday late afternoon/evening would be preferable. Sort out something tomorrow. Cheers Al

    Which Fuel Tank?

Hi Joe, I have a Superspec under build at present, it one of the originals with the pictured tank from Rhetoricle. I also live in Ramsgate, (Dumpton area), you are welcome to come and have a look at the tank if you want. It's not fully fitted, well not at all really. It sounds like your build is far more progressed. Drop me a pm. Cheers Al

Just been playing with black magic and witchcraft, hopefully the pdf is attached now! Al brake_pedal.pdf

    Pedals

No problem mate, but the pic is a little too big to post on the site. If you send me your e-mail address, i'll squirt it over. Cheers Al

    Pedals

Hi Jon, Just checked and the centre of the bend is 45mm near as damnit from the top of the pedal. It took a couple of attempts to get mine right and obtain the clearance around the steering shaft union though. Glad the info made sense! Cheers Al

Jon, Photo with measurements too large to attatch. I will send you a PM. Hope this helps. Cheers Al

    Pedals

Jon, If you bear with me i'll try and get them done either this afternoon or over the weekend. The pedal isn't fitted to car, so that should make it easier!! I agree about the manufacturing tolerances. It appeared with mine that the actual curved part of the pedal was welded on the wrong way round and it would have been wildly off centre to the servo linkage, if I could have gained the clearance from the steering column/shaft union. Cheers Al

    Pedals

Hi Jon, I have had the same problem on my SS pedals. The brake pedal was fouling the steering column/shaft union (knuckle joint). I had the pedal re-modified to suit which took a little trial and error. I don't have any pics at present, but if you can hang on a couple of days i'll take a couple and send you measurements, hopefully this may help you out. As yet, I have not fully fitted the pedals to the car, but I have tested for clearance and everything seems ok. Like you, mine is taking ages and ages, lost some enthusiasm due to work for the past couple of years, but I am getting the itch back. Al
  16. Will, I have the large socket with the 3/4" to 1/2" drive reducer for removing the hub nuts to replace the bearings if you need it. You'll need a long bar for 'cracking' the hub nuts as they are very tight, as Steve in Stockports reply quite rightly states. The Haynes manual also recommends replacing the hub nuts when they are removed. These hub nuts are also 'handed', but I can't remember which side is left or right handed thread. Let me know. Al
  17. Derek, Sorry to hear about your woes. This reminded me of a letter issued by RH a while agon concerning the ECU. Apparently the ECU can suffer problems if the HT lead from the coil runs too close to the ECU or jump leads run too close to the unit. Unfortunately they don't state what problems! I don't know if you received this letter from RH, but it also states that a standard Rover T series ECU won't work because the SSpec ECU's have been specially programmed to run on these engines without the immobiliser. What special programming is down to black magic and witchcraft! If you haven't yet rectified the problem, my car is many, many, many months away from completion. I could pop up with my ECU (unused so far!), for you to try on your car. This should prove the fault. It will should also help establish whether my ECU is good or not! Let me know. Al
  18. Hi, I have a length of the 'multi bend' tube from RH lying around in my garage. The brackets for my SSpec were cut from an identical length of tubing. You are welcome to this piece if it will fit. The brackets sit over two bars that are located above the upper ball joint on the Spec, diameter about 3/4". Let me know if you are interested. Al

    Superspec 05

Will, if there was black magic and witchcraft used, then I hope that you still have the spell coz i'll be needing it...........eventually!! Al
  20. John, I spoke to Dave at Dampertech (Gaz agent 01709 703992) and found him very helpful. He has recommended and supplied 1.9" springs rated at 300lb all round. The fronts are 130/090 B12 shocks with 1.9x8x300 springs The rears are 170//110 B12 shocks with 1.9x10x300 springs The total cost for the set including the dreaded vat and delvery was £350. Can't say how they will make the car handle as i'm a long way off getting on the road, but the look 100x better than the Zimmers. I took the members advice and am binning these for good shocks, so there will be a complete set of brand new Zimmers going if anyone wants them. Keep an eye on the for sale page I'll be collecting the brackets from Derek at the weekend and will have them on shortly after. Derek has been a star getting the brackets made. Al
  21. Hi Jon, I have some photos of the cooling system on my Super Spec I am building that might help you out. When I work out how to downsize the files i'll post them, or if you prefer, drop me a PM and i'll forward them to you. Cheers Al
  22. Hi Dredd, Glad to read that the upgrade has been worth while. Do you have any drawings, or, could I be cheeky and ask you whether your engineering company are interested in making up another set of brackets for some more drinking vouchers, as I would like to carry out this mod to my SSpec while I am building. I am in East Kent. If you are not too far away then I could collect and pay cash, if your company are interested. Regards Al
  23. Thanks for the responses chaps. Barry, I am in Kent and been in touch with Will on this. Battery Bill, there are two mounting studs, one of which I have managed to remove with the nut on and the rest are bolts. Don't know why there is a selection, must be to aid fitting the manifold I suppose Terry & Chris, i'll try thick washers. Thanks for your help and suggestions. Al
  24. Hi there, This is my first post so here goes, hopefully it is in the right section. I am building a SuperSpec with the Rover 2ltr lump and am having trouble getting the exhaust manifold to seat correctly. There is a gasket in place, (thin metal one). Even with the nuts tightened fully there is still movement on the manifold, like a pillock I have managed to remove one of the mounting studs by overtightening a bolt and can't get the nut off!! There are no protrusions from the flush side of the manifold that could be causing this as I have removed all of the offending protrusions of pipework The easiest option seems to me to space out with washers, but has anyone had any experience of this? Cheers Al

    Rear Wishbones

Jim, I think the Haynes manual also recommends replacing the hub nuts if they have been removed. I found these weren't expensive, even from my local Ford dealer, just a thought to be safe. Just to confirm Gordons comment, the passenger side is left hand thread. It took me a good couple of minutes to figure this out, you do feel a bit of a wally when your missus suggests that you might be turning the nut the wrong way!! Al
