  1. Advise you take it local office .. That way they will ensure its OK + they will fill in Registration document application etc. I trailered up the car, BUI at 10:00 B'Ham by 10:15 I had tax disc + letter to get plates. Plates bought and temp fixed drove back all legal at 11:00
  2. Stamped mine into tube and onto a plate as well. Understood from DVLA that it must be stamped so it can not be altered once car is registered.
  3. Mine was looked at by VOSA during the sva Then during BUI both at B'ham
  4. You may find the attached useful... Instrument_Panel_Details.doc
  5. Mine still does not work.. The modification is simple although not if you have it all fixed. The feed to B terminal is switcghed ignition. The feed to E is Earth a good one not the one on the cluter loom I created a new on direct to chasis The feed to S is Coil Neg But mine still refuses to work..

    Sva Test

When I did sVA + BUI on the SS at B'ham, the DVLA lady wanted the MAC + paper work + cheque and then gave me a date and time of the BUI by post. It took about 3 days to come and was in the next week. The BUI took 5 mins !! Had to trailer up to Garrets Green again went to the Number Plate place next to VOSA station sticky pads temp fix and I drove home Best of luck to you both for the retest and the SVA.. Cheers ... BTW all I want is some better weather I am desperate to got the SS out on the open road again... B)
  7. A cautionary note: At B'ham in September when I got my pass the inspector was complementary that I had fitted screen + wipers etc. He said that as far as he was aware if there was any indication that a screen was going to be needed on the car when presented for IVA then it would fail without one. his comment was any 7 based kit needed a screen or aero screen so they should be fitted.
  8. What size dipode ? You need fairly decent size.. Forward current about 2 amps.
  9. Hope this attachment shows how to do it Its very easy no relay etc. Mine is fine.. Wiper_Self_Park.doc

    Dvla

My BUI took about 5 mins.. On the trailer cos Bham wont agree you can drive to DVLA
  11. make a copper loop I used standard 12 mm pipe with a convertor to 8mm thats the size into the master cylinder you can get 8mm pipe by the way its still made for gas installation.. I then used flexible finally about 2 inches to connect to the reservoir fitted to my replacement fire wall. SVA man was very happy  B)
  12. There are a lot of threads here on this topic. I had a yellow gear on my superspec thats 22 teeth if my memory serves and the speedo was way to high. Typical readings being Speedo Reading / Actual Road Speed(Rollers) 35 / 29 40 / 32 50 / 41 60 / 49 70 / 58 Just prior to SVA I managed to get a 24 tooth gear and that was a redish colour and that got ne to within SVa standards just.. According to Ford there was a 25 tooth gear option on a transit which by calculation would give a 4 mph error across the SVA test range. Apparently the Ford part number for speedo drive is with 25 teeth is F6177330. but my local dealers had no reference to this and the only one they could find was for a late MT75 with an electronic rather than cable take off option. Some other calculations are Guessing the the margin of error on this test , which is 20% at indicated 35mph, 25% at 40mph, 22% at 50 and 60%, and 20% at 27%, and if the number of teeth on the yellow gear is 22, then a driven gear with 26 teeth should improve things to within approx 1.8mph . An increase to 27 teeth would take the speedo readin below the actual road speed - no going that far then... SVA fail 100% With the 25 tooth drive available the error sould be around 4 - 5.1 mph. Hope this helps good luck with the fit, I used the 90 degree adapter since trying to get the cable to fit on a superspec without was a 100% failure scratch one cable, Speedy cables recommend the max bend radius on any part of the cable is 5 inchs.
  13. Not sure why you are not using copper, its a lot easier! I fitted a simple copper loop to the master using gas pipe 10mm and converted to 12mm standard to make the loop With copper its rigid and the loop can be attached to the fire wall. B)
  14. On a Superspec yes they are in parallel so the handbrake switch if fitted acts as rghe SVA requirement.
  15. I have a complete set all pieces + frame bits. I am not going to fit to my SS any interest ? B) B)
  16. You should have a switch b;ock that fits onto the ignition barrel. I can't remember the colour but I think its brown ?? It has the connections for Ignition, starter etc.
  17. I fitted the 90 degree adapter to my superspec and bought a new custom cable from Speedy Cables. Here Made fitting very easy... B)
  18. Not sure why the oil seal was difficult! What bend radius have you managed at the box it must be very tight. speedy cables quote min as 6" otherwise cable rubs on outer and frays,, With regard to your speeds my Tacho has packed up again !! no idea why and its to cold to play until next spring.... But from memory with my gear which has one less tooth when tacho was working at 70 in 5th it was about 3600
  19. Mine is stiff stationary but free while moving. THe RH remote mod is poor on the mounting.. they have slop. Hope you enjoy the car mine is gre..at
  20. Is it the right length ? The only one I saw was shorter than the standard and did not have the square hole in the shaft to accept the cable.. It had a strange end that i was told fitted into a recess that held the electronic sensor..
  21. Yes Maroon is the Ford definition. You are lucky RH supplied that. Agreed you should just get SVA with that 24 Wheel Just had a look at the Yellow and it also has those codes !!! Wills quoted P/N is the 25 tooth wheel but I could not get hold of the mechanical version the electronic fitted to later Mt75's for electronic instrument clusters is available. This is shorter and does not have the hole for the cable... If you are using the supplied Instrument head have you got the modified wiring detail for the Rev Counter ? That was another of the nightmares I had just prior to SVA the Rev counter is not a requirement but to check emissions pre SVA its nice to have an idea of the revs. The original RH diagram and comments mean the REV counter is dead...
  22. Agreed but.... The problem is the drive gear you have to insert.. THe MT75 was designed for many cars with different axle and wheel size. So if you look at the mechanical design the speedo drive cog engages a helically cut gear in the box and can hence can have a variable number of teeth. My readings on a rolling road test prior to SVA were Speedo Reading / Actual Road Speed(Rollers) 35 / 29 40 / 32 50 / 41 60 / 49 70 / 58 This would fail... The first gear I inserted for the speedo drive gear in the MT75 box was coded yellow and that has 22 teeth this was in the kit ... To slow down the cable, and thus slow down the speedo the number of teeth need to increase. Once again further investigation has led to finding that.. after a visit to a local Ford dealer The parts guy spent a few minutes searching all vehicles that used the MT75 gearbox and found that the highest number of teeth available is 25. (But this it seems is no longer available. Based on the above figures some quiick ratio calcs show calculations, if the number of teeth on the yellow gear is 22, then a driven gear with 26 teeth should improve things to within approx 1.8mph . An increase to 27 teeth would take the speedo readin below the actual road speed - no going that far then... Spoke to RH but had no success other than a comment that yes there is a problem and if he could find them they had old spare drive gears.. I finally sourced a 24 tooth gear via a ford agent, this just kept the speedo into the SVA range but only just. Typically at rolling road - 70 m.p.h the normal top end test and the worst error point the indicated speed was just under 80, Changing the gear once scuttle etc is fitted is a nightmare !!! Had to strip a great deal down to get it out thats why I made my original comment. There are other thread 2004/5 discussing this .. I don't think anyone who has used a mechanical speedo has got the calibration right on an SS with the Escort/Fiesta that varies as well instrument pack. Many SS have electronic Instruments in hind sight I wish I had gone that way..

    Handbrake

Most Sevens other than WesTfield and caterham have the passenger footwell position. This position stems from the Lotus 6 design if you do a bit of digging. Mine passed no prob at all and the tester was quite small.
  24. The key phrase is "or a combination".. What mechanical device other than a steering lock will pass !!! If you search these threads you will find a lots of references to using starter systems i.e button panels etc. However most are fitted post SVA. If you look at the IVA its even more confussing.. My advice get on and get a pass with a steering lock and then make any changes..
  25. The manual quotes a steering column lock as the anti theft device. There are mentions of a alternative options but they are not listed in the manual its info only available to the tester I have a mate who tried to use a removable steering wheel boss at B'ham on a cobra and that failed even though its not possible to drive with the steering wheel removed. The testers answer was that a mole wrench could be used to steer the car.
