  2. Hi David welcome to rhocar i wouldnt have been able to complete my zero without the help & guidance on this site, its brilliant.
  3. Nick I removed the exhaust today to get a pic of the wire & scourers I added for iva but its empty-- it must have melted & blew out. it was a loose roll of chicken wire about 600mm long with 6 stainless scourers trapped in it. hope that helps cheers Paul
  4. i rolled up some chicken wire with stainless scourers trapped in it and shoved it in the long side of the exhaust. dba dropped from 106 to 97.5. if i get time this week i will pull it out & take photo. Cheers Paul
  5. Hi Nick I was still adding rubber bits on the morning of the test & was probably overkill so it may be panic. Have you taken any photos of the E mark label on your seatbelts (if its hidden behind the seats) as I was asked for one in my test. car looks good cheers Paul

  8. managed to get an early finish today & weather looks ok so I will be at the Mouse tonight in my Zero cheers Paul
  9. the first drive was much better than expected. quick of the line and very stable at speed, but I will need to get the geometry done at a garage. we were out until 7pm last night and weren`t too cold. cheers Paul
  10. Hi Nick the panel is rivetted to the bottom of the sides, I`ve seen your panel (nice job). Iam going to cut off knackered bit and fix panel to chassis. Cheers Paul PS also goin on a diet
  11. been out yesterday & today, done about 150 miles--absolutely fantasic. but then late today doin 65mph on dual carriage way with me & son onboard the road got a bit bumpy, heard a noise from behind then something scraping on road. I pulled over & had a look. oh ***k !!! the bottom of the rear panel was bent down. It must have grounded & caught on something. gutted Paul
  12. thanks for advice, I have never driven a 7 before so will be taking it v v easy for the first 10 minutes only joking wont be out today as its p**sing down. I found the iva and registration process pretty straightfoward, but I did alot of homework and visited the local DVLA office and spoke to the kit expert. they told me I could have an age related reg which was great as I had K17 ERO on retention. (a gift from the misses) cheers Paul
  13. Passed IVA this morning and registered by 11am, off to work now so will get plates tomorrow. Many many thanks to all who have given help & guidance without RHOCAR I would still be in garage scratching my head. Cheers Paul

    Rematch

all faults corrected, retest booked 9am friday. the handbrake problem was down to worn teeth on the adjuster in the brake drum, found a spare in the shed so didnt take long to sort. also got dvla inspection booked for 11am. cheers Paul
  16. just call me a numty during iva each axle was weighed seperately rear 300- front 340 and I just added them together. I will ask at the retest(this week hopefully) if they can weigh whole car sorry for confusion cheers Paul
  17. hi steve 1. dont have a build diary, not organised enough to sort it. 2. on the zero the top belt fixings are not in line with the apetures, so in an accident they will put "strain" on the seat. So for the iva the seats would be classed as part of the car frame and would need extra strength on seat fixings. hope thats clear. I just fixed my seats to floor with no extra bits. 3. I used the kit indicators, but cut the black plastic in half, shoved some pipe in to give correct length then covered it in neoprene handlebar grips (its easier to get the pipe in the plastic if you warm the plastic first) Cheers Paul
  18. by request, some photos of front suspension area as presented for iva.
  19. I used a halfords brake cable, complete with curved metal bend. filed the barrel end down abit to fit carb end, pinch bolt for pedal end. think it was £2 cheers Paul
  20. cheers everyone i should have better nights sleep tonight. If anyone wants any info or photos of anything, no probs. For those that like to know the finer points: emissions: no cat 1992 Ford DOHC engine-fazer 1000 bike carbs CO% target 3.5 - actual 0.24 HC PPM target 1200 - actual 151 exhaust noise: target 99dba - actual 97.5dba (standard GBS exhaust stuffed with scourers & chicken wire) speedo was reading about 10% over at 0-70mph (acewell digidash) Weights: no driver front 340kgs - rear 300kgs Many thanks to Graham & Michael for the loan of their equipment Cheers Paul
  21. well after a 3 hour test its a ..................................................... FAIL but its a good fail overall the tester was impressed with build quality. heres the list 1. Front brake hoses just touching the top wishbone on full lock. should be able to fix by slightly twisting hoses so they bend away from wishbone 2. Front brake hoses joint at caliper. tester needs to see thread so he knows its fully home. need to remove hoses and prove the depth etc 3. Nearside wheel handbrake not efficent enough. I will have wheels off & check shoes etc. 4. No symbol on fog telltale light I have a seperate fog switch & telltale. the switch has a symbol on, so I printed a label saying "FOG TELLTALE" to stick under the telltale but wasnt enough, easy fixed 5.Coolant water bottle not secure. I have a drinks bottle for the rad spit/suck but only secured with cable tie, easy fixed 6. Spring washer missing from top steering column uj. easy fix I am very happy with that list as it wont take much sorting. a few pics after the event.
