on day 5 what time do you think you will be crossing the border on A68 & where is your 1st fuel stop ?
working lates next week so an early runout could be fun

cheers for info
I know an engine should be turned over every month or so but what about a gearbox?

Iam trying to tidy the garage & shed to have a bit more space to work in so Iam moving all spares to a small loft area above the garage.
this is what I have - all from 2.0 DOHC, should they be covered in oil / WD40 / wrapped in oily paper / left dry ???
Engine (on a stand) will be stored in corner of garage
Alloy cylinder head with cams / valves etc attached (oiled when rebuilt)
water pump (new)
alternator (new)
brake calipers (used)
complete rear brake drums (used)
drive shafts (new)
MT75 gearbox (used)
Diff (used)
front hubs (used)
The wee loft is well ventilated
Cheers Paul

My DOHC sump did not have the extra capacity extension added.
I never had an oil problem.
The suggestion of a gate hinge baffle across the point where the extension fits makes sense to me.
How much did you cut from the pickup? mine was only about 1/4 inch above and parallel to the flat bottom.
Graham
.
actually Graham I added an 8mm spacer to the pickup where it bolts to the block as the gap was 16mm !!!!
-
Looking at your sump a simple one way flap would allow oil in but prevent it moving away from pick up area, you could put small slots in to allow a small amount of oil movement
finally got round to fitting a sump baffle
I chose a simple hinged flap (made from gate hinge) as Snapperpaul suggested -seemed to work ok with water, wont be tested on road till april
also adjusted the bottom of oil pickup to sump base gap to 8mm
hopefully this will do the trick

mine passed iva on bike carbs/megajolt without a cat.
My engine is from early 1992 with a letter from ford as proof, so didnt need a cat.
What year is your engine from?
Is it using all original EFI bits?

Glad you got it sorted. Did you manage to do the tensioner without much trouble?
Les
I tried the old tensioner 1st but pushed it too far in & it wouldnt release, 2nd attempt on new one worked no probs
I didnt have any feelers to use so cut up a bean tin
once you get the knack its quite easy to do
cheers Paul
