Cheers Nick Already been looking at your blog among the other on the site and have noticed that a little tinkering is required with the help of my mate Mr angle grinder. is there any specific thickness plate i need to stick over this section.

    Gear Box

Hi all How lucky am i, I been looking for a type 9 box for my zero for a few week now and found one on ebay for £130 which i thought was reasonable, after a couple more day searching i thought i would take the plunge and buy it, but to my disappointment it had been sold. Anyway the next day i got a phone call from a chap to arrange collection for a type 9 gear box he went on to explain that a mrs smith bought it and to contact me for collection. doesn't get much better than this really. so a big thanks to the mrs. so back to the real post. is there anything i should be doing to the box before i mount it to engine apart from the obvious tidy up and lick of paint, oil change. etc. I don't know a great deal about gear boxes really so any advice would be a great help off to search for some jennvey throttle boddies next and see if i get lucky again. Cheers neil

    Collection

Get them to run some taps down the treads if you dont have any. Especialy down the top ball joint as this can be a pain. if you cant thread the ball joint in far enough. i know that a few people have had problems with this. when i collected mine they offered to do this for me while they made me a brew and then went for a spin in the demo car. They are very helpful bunch and will talk to you all day giving you tips. i was there for hour taking picture and drinking all their tea. Keith even took my wife out for a spin and she shat her pants.

  14. Hi all This is probably the going to be the longest build in the history of this forum. i have never done anything like this before and have always liked the idea of building a kit car. so anyway after taking the plunge here it is on all four wheels.i have made a few school boy errors on the way and managed to brake the front up right in a vice while trying to remove a broken stud, where the suspension strut is locates in the upright, and then ballsed up my ignition barrel trying to remove the lock a bit to much force oops oh well these are all learning curves i suppose I have had the kit now for 15 months and only just got it to the rolling road stage. I have bought a few other bit along the way like GRP dash and some smiths dials all hidden away up stairs as the wife doesn't know about them yet. I couldn't resist in taking it for a quick push up and down the drive while grinning like a Cheshire cat on heat. This will probably take me another 2 year to finish it off, so i should have no excuses really for botch job i Just did a quick sum of what i have spent to date and was shocked to fin it came to just over 5K doesn't look much for 5 grand but still well within my 11K budget i planned for the build i hope. but no doubt i will upgrade a lot more items as i go which i don't really need i am going to start a blog soon so what out if you fancy a laught

    Chassis Size

I used a long wheel based transit van more than enough space. Make sure that you take plenty of protection with you as you dont want to scratch any powder coating or the Gel coalting on the Cycle wings old sheets etc

    Powder Coating

Sorry i don't. i dismantled the last one as it was taking up space in the garage very simple to make i use a timber frame. then screw a back and side and a top and bottom to it, leaving the front open so i could get the heater facing the item. i plan on making a smaller one next week end to finish off my brake calipers brackets. i will post some picture when i do it.

    Powder Coating

I used a patio heater from class olson for 25 quid i managed a mountain bike frame for a friend came up good took a while to cure. for large or small item i got told a little trick from the chap who sold it to me. Build a double skin plasterboard box with the front open and this will retain the heat and fire proof up to 2 hours if it goes tits up
