  1. just put some nut covers over the spindles or wrap with self amalgamating tape so the examiner cant feel any edges and you'll be ok steve
  2. just measured the plate and it extends approx 200mm inboard from chassis tube steve
  3. jez the rubber catches salty shows are fine plus if you are lowering the plenum chamber you may find it just catches under the bonnet acting as a secondary device - mine does! dont worry just need to ease the bonnet side out about a quarter of an inch to clear when opening it steve
  4. heres a link to ticket prices for 2006. looks like about £55 for admission ticket and between £50 and £80 to camp in the lay bys steve

doc try this link, dont think its the same bloke and does not say in the thread if he's sold any of it. may not be an lsd but will probably be a 3.9 just so its easier for the engine to get it going steve
  7. Duncan its only £54 if you go for the 10 30 ferry on the way back but you have to be up and packed and ready to roll bloody early to get there for it. think i would rather pay the extra tenner for the later crossing and have a bit more time to get sorted. am thinking of doing the weds to the monday like you guys, will book the ferry and worry about getting the time off work later did you get the pics of horseshoe pass and the nova wipers ok? steve
  8. on a static brake test ie the car not moving the compensator has no effect on the brakes so if the brakes are poor there will be another reason self adjusters not adjusting, worn linings, air in rear half of brake system or something like that. the compensator has a ball bearing in it which moves in a chamber as the car slows down, this movement restricts the braking force being sent to the rear brakes to stop the rear brakes locking up before the fronts and so avoiding unexpected end swappy i'm sure i was going the other way moments steve
  9. congratulations and well done nick now get out there and enjoy yourself steve
  10. talk about bad timing, my annual leave/hols from work are all preset and next year am off from 25th may til 11th june so will have to try to change leave block, or get to use some bank holidays or get someone to stand in for me if i am going to make it there steve
  11. ron when i shortened the cable on mine i didnt fancy the "smack it with a big hammer and get your numbest mate to test it" method so i took it along to the local chandlers (like a car spares shop but for boats for those of us with no sea legs) who make up steel cables in different sizes. he cut it to length and pressed on a new ferrule with a twenty ton press for £5 - proper job. steve
  12. caught in the act - motorcyclist checks hoods to see which looks best for a back scuttling!!
  13. mick sorry no one got a pic of the motorbike but you seemed so calm about it that i dont think any of us realised that the silly sod had done any damage to your car. should have done one for insurance cos he brought it on himself slipstreaming you all the way down the hill, the silly old trout! steve
  14. got back home at about 3 pm and started with another bout of sneezing like i had in the cafe and still at it now 2 3/4 hours later!
  15. found this in the motor museum today as well apparently it set the acceleration record back in 1965 of 0-150 mph in 10 seconds. has 2 turbinique jet engines running on nitrous and oxygen, 4 inch cart brakes and your backside is about 2 inches off the floor steve
  16. this is the little motor museum that opened up specially for us when we arrived had a bit of a delay getting in while micky removed a motorcyclist from under his rear - ouch! then the run back into Llangollen in convoy Duncan may have sorted a deal with the museum owner, but he can tell you all about it steve
  17. can only agree mick beautiful weather for a day out and good to meet up with you all the line up in the cafe car park lined up for another photo opportunity, any body fancy trying to guess where mick is off to? steve
  18. hey i've got one of those too micky! good to see you today steve
  19. i'll have a blast over from stockport and meet up with you over there about 10 30 ish steve
  20. thats the one i remember from school way back in the 70's volts = amps x resistance(ohms) springs to mind because the science teacher said always remember Virgins Are Rare steve
  21. good point peter, hadn't thought of that, i saw the stuff advertised in a motorsport catalogue so its probably not suitable for road going cars just track cars steve
  22. is the fuel outlet on the tank on the opposite side from that which the fuel is forced to by the forces generated during cornering? if it is you have to stop the fuel moving about, you can get fuel tank foam for this job, comes in small cubes that you push down the filler, it absorbs the fuel and stops it sloshing around. its a bit pricey but is an easy fix, but saves stripping car and buying baffled tank steve
  23. brian yes the 38mm angle is fixed at each side to the rectangular plates used to locate the sierra axle with m10 bolts and nyloc nuts steve
  24. mine is a 2001 2b kit and came with locking plastic sierra filler cap so i had to start from scratch and this is what i came up with aero filler cap £70 - ouch but nice and slim, no edge worries at test and non leaking 2 inch petrol pipe with 90 degree bend and a tank flange to connect to the tank £20 for each. fixed the flange to the tank with self tappers and a good dose of chemical metal. because the filler, sender and flange are all air tight i put a breather through the sender to allow air into the tank as fuel level drops using a piece of 8mm copper pipe and a modified one way valve from a brake bleed kit and some more chemical metal all parts are from merlin motorsport but are available from other sources steve
  25. got fully reconned calipers for mine from local motor factors £25 each on exchange steve
