Well, The Time Has Come;

after starting a business in 2005 i have had to devote all my income to the startup of this business and certain things have fell by the wayside, my poor 2b has been sat at the back of the garage just crying out to be finished. So here i am again, about to embark on that epic journey of enlightenment that only comes from scratching your head for hours on end wondering why the bloody hell it doesn't fit/work/move etc.

I sat in the drivers seat last night for the first time in months, sat there for half an hour thinking where do i start?

it seems like there isn't really that much to do; fuel pump fitment, buy, build and fit a megajolt, paint the thing, sort the dash and seatbelts. All in all not a major list but never the less it's still daunting as none of it is really as simple and straight forward as it first seems.

Unfortunatly i will have to miss a few of the shows this year due to work commitments so i will have to draw my enthusiasm for completing it from a few other members on here.

wish me luck as tonight i am going out there to start my first wotk on the car for nearly two years.

:help:

If you haven't already done so install a beer fridge in the garage, and a CD player. B)

There is no better way of dealing with my demons than to be in my happy place with Mr Spanner and Mr Hammer. Start off with something straightforward that won't take too much effort to complete and be prepared to stop if you start getting frustrated or (worse) angry.

Enjoy!

Just been in exactly the same position as yourself. Car was virtually complete with various minor jobs to complete. The more I thought about what was left the worse things seem to get.

After not touching the car for a couple of months I ventured into the garage, instead of thinking about things I just got stuck in with the spanners flying. Result - Car is almost complete and I was actually able to have a brief drive under it's own steam.

Next plan is to

-sort out a proper fuel tank in order to get to Barkston on 21st July - time to go hunting those Westfields (In my dreams!)

-May even book an SVA for autumn.

What more encouragement do you need!

Just done my first 100 miles Steve and I can tell you it is well worth all the late nights, all the grief, the unexpected bills, the injurys - the list could go on!! When you press the loud pedal you forget all the difficult times and only remember the good bits!! :D

Cheers guys, well i have just spent the last 5 hours in the garage. Walked away now with a fully installed fuel pump and filter. It's the same pump that i took out the Calibra with the engine so i'm going to have to get a regulator for the webers. My garage is a mess as Ive let my friend use half with his escort cosworth rally car and he seems to have taken over and used all my tools!! having a big tidy up in there tomorrow then hopefully go all guns blazing at it. Im still not sure yet whether to paint it before i get it running, or get it all going first then strip it down to paint. :unknw:

I am also about to start my third dash too, first one was standard RH and the quality is rubbish, second was a vac formed one i bought of someone on this site that was making them a few years ago, forget who now sorry. Stopped with that as my budget wont allow for buying all the dials, they will have to wait. Third one will be ply, or polycarb with a cossie dash sunk in. a lot cheaper and hopefully look better and lighter than the steel RH dash.

Calling all NW hoodies. I know you have been down to my farm once before in 2004 when i just started the kit so if any of you fancy a drive down you are welcome. Last time i had 11 in the yard and i wish i took some pictures.

my garage has all mod cons by the way, music, kettle!!

cheers

If I was ever stuck with what to do, or fed up with how something was going, I'd have a tidy and re-org, then write a list of jobs to do.

Within a couple of days, the list would have loads of ticks on it, stating "JOB COMPLETE", very satisfying!!!
