Steering Bush

As i have been moving my car in and out the garage i have noticed the steering column had a lot of left - right play in it.

turns out the play is cming from the rubber bush mounted just behind the footwell. I remember i fitted a brand new one that came with the kit and upon further inspection it looks to be fitted right. there is a big rubber grommet, then the spindle slots into that with a circular poiece of plastic between the two. finally a clip to stop it moving up the shaft.

I have drawn a quick pic showing the expanded version.

but the hole in te grommet is a lot larger than the insert bush. this is causing loads of play.

any ideas?

Hi Andy,

Count me in. I'm in Ramsgate and pop over to the outlet semi-frequently, so could collect.

Cheers

Al
