M1 Speed Cameras J28 To J25

Cameras have been put up on the gantrys over the last week or so, dont know if they are live yet but be warned...

They have been up for about 6 weeks. Not sure if they are live yet though.

They did have signs up saying "Camera's not yet in use"

I agree with Rob, pretty sure they will be enforcing a variable speed limit (only active when speed limits are flashing on overhead gantry)

Yet another money making scheme from us poor motorists

the system is only as good as the limits in force - the first time i went down the m1 with the cameras in place, there was a 40mph limit and only a handful of cars on the road. Ultimately, nothing ever happened that could have justified such a limit, so what are we to do? do 40, and risk getting rear ended by someone doing 70 or risk points?

 

I decided on going through at 60 - fast enough not be a hazard to other traffic but not so fast that i risked an instant ban for being 30mph over the limit!

 

On the flipside it worked very well when i went through Birmingham on my way to stoneleigh, everyone doing 60 in every lane in heavy traffic kept us all moving comfortably.
