Fog Light To Only Work On Dipped And Main Beam

What fog light switch are you using? How many connections are on the back of it? I would have expected a simple on/off switch would just need to live from the link wire on one terminal and then output to the fog light on the other.

its on that lights up when on small circular with three connections on the back

Ok, so feed to one terminal, earth from another and output to fog from the last one? Try disconnecting the earth and see if you still blow the fuse.

Tried again this morning the brown white Collum link wire has power with ignition on and dipped beam then no power on full beam . I have a red white cable going to fog switch which is labeled lights and blue white cable labeled full beam I have figured how to get it to work on full beam now just need main beam to come on with fog ! So looks like I just need a feed from main beam supply but don't know which cable it is !

The cable that is live when main is switched on but not when dipped.

Spent a while on it again today worked out whats live and switch to just make the main beam come on ! How do I now get this to the fog light switch got it to work on full main beam just need main beam

Feed the fog switch with that live and no other.

Fog needs to work off dipped live not main live!

But the Iva rules say the fog light should only work with main and full beam not dipped

Just read my Iva fail sheet RS4 :the rear fog lamp must only illuminate when dipped beam ,main beam or fog lamp are lit - It failed because rear fog lamp works on position lamps ? Don't understand why its failed !

Position lamps are side lights and the fog should NOT light up with those only.

Position lamps = side lights as said on fail sheet-- fog on only when dip or main ( head) lamps on.

but my car only has low beam dipped ? and high beam head lights main beam ? what's position lights ?

Position lamps = side lights = rear lights ( 2 - both red ) & front lights - could be in headlight shells or could be separate lights but need 2 & both will be white.

Position lamps is side lights. If you don't have them that's a fail as well.

 

Low beam dipped as you called them are simply dipped head lights.

 

high beam head lights main beam are your full/main beam.
