Ebay Warning

Hi all. I bought a z20 let vxr engine off ebay nearly two weeks ago.

It has not turned up yet.

Messaged the seller last Friday and he told me the engine had been dispatched.

Now there is no reply to either messages or emails.

Have started a dispute claim against him today.

I will probably get the money back, but cannot buy another engine till I get it. That will delay my mods now untill after the summer as I don't want to miss out on the good weather.

 

BEWARE. IF THE SELLER IS CALLED KIERAN1014 DON'T TOUCH HIM.

Just looked at his listing. It only shows bidding for a wheel nut. Did you go outside of ebay to buy the engine or did you manage to pay him through ebay and PayPal ?

Paid through paypal. Last week he had more items on as separates. One of which was the engine. As soon as I paid it went off site.

Proper PayPal or PayPal gift? I once almost got screwed over by using PayPal gift, since then I never use gift now

Won't ever do it again.

Apparently you can get covered against fraud on it. Problem is, they don't inform of that until you make a claim.

They think I should be ok but who knows.

Can you? When I got scammed I was told there's nothing they could do. Luckily because I keep nothing in my PayPal balance most of the charge came off my debit card, so then following some advice from moneyexpert.com I basically set up an illegal charge claim with my bank, they asked for evidence etc and within a few weeks I had it all back. Couldn't fault the bank for their help.

Never pay by paypal gift if you dont know them personally! Just use one of the many fee calculators so you know how much extra to pay on top of the amount to cover the fees.

You know what Rob, thats exactly what I have just done.

I think I have tracked down his facebook page as well. Will share details of what I have been able to find as soon as I have confirmed everything is him.

 

Obviously this is all in the aid of him being tracked down / reported to the police / 2b cruising getting his money back, I couldnt possibly condone members using any of the information I find in any other way.

Ask him if you can pay on collection and get his address for me. If he says no to that, just say you don't want it. Or you could inform Ebay what is happening.

I wander how many others have bought it.

Hope you are successful duck. I will only go to the police with it. 5 years ago it would have been a much different story as I was quite able bodied.
