Okay... Update time

 

Firstly really big thanks to Rob & Femi for helping me out today..

 

Got the engine out and stripped. Found some large flakes of ally on pick up pipe which was really worrying. However on checking big ends and main bearings only slight pick up/ wear found. Hmmm

Stripped out pump and suspicion confirmed. The pump itself was in good condition however the pressure relief valve was seized open which explains the 0 oil pressure.

Pulled the cams out and no wear issues either.

Bores also good.

So we now think the ally bits must be swarf

which became trapped when sump was modified ( new sump).

 

So new bearings being fitted and new oil pump. Hopefully back up and running in a week or so. Looks like I was really lucky on this one as no major damage done.....phew

Glad its not as terminal as mine was dude.. ge good to see it up and runnng soon. proper pressure gauge next mod ??

Hi Fraser

 

It's an original "proper" mx5 gauge I need, to replace the standard MX5 idiot gauge ( only indicates you have pressure, not how much)
