Thanks everybody, once I've fitted a tow bar to our freelander I'll get it to the workshop, I presume I can just cut the welds that hold the body to the chassis, it seems a bit odd having stainless welded to mild steel frame?

I like the fact you're going for the rebuild, I'm in a similar boat although mine is a series 3 monocoque, so that part is in fairly good condition, but have had to refurb or replace pretty much everything else. Yes it is going to cost me probably twice what I could have bought a finished road going hood, but for me it's about building the car, to be able to say "I built that" & it's how I want it to be & I know the car inside out.

I have to admire you for that Rich. I'd love to build my own kit but alas, with work and 2 kids under 5 I simply do not have the time. Maybe one day? If I do it will be a v8 that is the only starting point I'd insist on.
