$64,000 Question

A little bit of hopefully :( constructive help.

The 2B has now done 1,500 miles in its bog standard format, straight from the Sierra. Hopefully over the winter I shall have some spending money, Christmas and all that, the wife can normally be persuaded that it goes to a good cause, see pix. But what should I spend it on?

1. Stage 1 or 2 head (added benefit of allowing unleaded to be used)

2. Set of 'proper carbs' and ditch the ECU

3. Go for a scrap 'Redtop' and fork out for the exhaust & bell housing

If there is a forth or even fifth option please let me known.

All comments gratefully received.

Robbie

A little bit of hopefully  constructive help.

That constructive bit might stop some posts

You have injection engine! therefore you already have the "Unleaded Head" :D

Proper carbs! Nah nothing wrong with a decent fuel injection set up.

Save your christmas money and fill her up with unleaded and drive some more miles get her nicely bedded in and maybe next christmas you might want to buy another donk I would go for a Zetec :D :D

Better duck now

Robbie,

I am in the process of replacing my Pinto with a 16v Vauxhall.

When its in & running I'll be selling my complete pinto which is a fully (professionally) rebuilt 2l engine, stage 2 injection based head (big inlet valves), lightened & balanced bottom end, lightened flywheel, high pressure oil pump, FR32 cam & new followers, stainless RHE 4 branch & brand new DGAS carb. This unit has done 10,000 miles (including two LeMans trips) & is well known around Kent.

It was all set up on a rolling road & puts out 136BHP.

I would estimate it will be available in Jan/Feb next year. (SBD willing!!)Price will be about £350. Receipts total £1200.

Otherwise build up your own engine to a similar spec....its loadsa fun!

Bob.

In reply to a few emails......

136bhp at flywheel.

25-30 mpg on DGAS

12-22 on twin 40s

BUT.....dont jump the gun,

there's alot of work for me to rebuild the Vauxhall lump, & put it in place

of the Pinto. That wont be sold until I'm happy the Vox is in & running OK.

Dont worry!!! I'll advertise the Pinto here first

To add some more information, it is not a efi, it is just a bog standard 2l carb setup.

Getting increadably bored with it in the stardard state, and trying 2 persuade my dad to spend a bit of money on the girl.

so any advice on how best to increase a pinto's performance would be much appreciated.
