  1. Bill thanks for that, the more i do and the more problems i solve ( with the help of the club) the more i am in awe of those that have done it. I always check out the SVA passes. You can feel the mix of relief and pride in every one thats done it. I want that feeling.
  2. Spend a few days pondering over the bonnet and had it just about right when, with a few days off i thought i'll just put the nosecone and infill panels in. what a job. started off ok, Took my time, off and on a couple of dozen times, made up the top brackets as per the video, they fitted ok, then the infill panels. can't be to hard Richard just bent them by hand and slotted them in. 3 days, BLOODY HELL it was like trying to stuff an octopus in a string bag. I think that i have just been reminded how little i know about building a kit. However its done now ( all but taking it a part to clean, be burr and paint) it looks OK, i have had a couple of beers and a curry and life is good again.

    Super Spec

Envy, Envy, Envy... Well done, but why doesn't it have lots of dents and scratches like mine does? Also how are you going to get it in the garage, with no door?
  4. I'll bend one this weekend.
  5. I only got 2 thirds of the way down your article when the Sc%^* w),< Funeeeeeeeee ..............." FATAL ERROR" THROW COMPUTER AWAY AND GO DOWN PUB.
  6. I thought the silencer was a simple perforated tube with fiberglass wadding wrapped round, if it is then the only bit that could move would be the perforated tube. you should be able to see from the manifold end. It may well have come detached. It could be a case of prodding with a rod of some sort to feel if there is any movement. Good luck.
  7. off subject but following Longboarder, Last month Lost every thing on the home computer due to a virus complete re format, Work pc hard drive failure lost every thing, then new drive failed after 1 day awaiting replacement, PDA crashed lost everything, hard reset. Today Hard drive on G5 at work has a fault, 3 years work on it currently copying images to second drive, i could be here a while....and i can feel a nasty dose of man flue coming on, probably caught it from the computers.

    1999 Sub K ?

Its Known as ringing and the bloke is a complete Kn*b, he must be asking to get his collar felt. " For sale Car completely illegal for the road, therefor uninsurable" Who's going to get him first, Police or DVLA?
  9. Any one got for sale the bent spanner for removing the viscous fan from the pully. I didn't want to bend a perfectly good one in the vice unless i realy have to, and it's the sort of tool i could do with in my special tools box.

  11. Do not pay 550 for a recon. You can pick up a good pinto for little money, replace any seals that leak and run it until it gives up. Or as i am going to do, put in the donor engine as it stands ( cleaned up and new gaskets) and use the 205 engine i bought from Russ, thanks mate its a gem, and build that in the winter months.

  15. I know money is the issue here but it is best to fit new bearings, followers and springs, also don't forget the spray bar. miss any of these and you could wipe out your cam quite quickly
  16. They look good Nigel, I have copied your info and may go that route with mine, have you found the need to modify the supports as Big Jim has done? and what spec are you going for when you replace the Fronts?
  17. Fuel filter could be usefull and for a quid plus postage i assume, i'll have it. you have mail
  18. Interesting comments, I would like to see the cars of the people with the stronger opinions to see wether it was a case of "people in glass houses" Also web site coment's are like texting you can be very brave or opinionated when you are not face to face. However i will allow them their opinion knowing that there are a lot of great Hoods out there built buy genuine people.
  19. I bought the Hood after finishing most of my DIY obligations however drilling holes in wall or floor tiles i used the simple arrowhead diamond tile drills from B&Q ( they last forever if you let them do the work and don't lean on them to hard) bigger holes chain drill and use a tungsten blade in a jig saw or if your bored and want to kill some time a hand tile saw.

    Speedo Accuracy

I agree with Bill. Have taken my GPS out with a car with a calibrated speedo and it is accurate when it settles, when i take it out with my personal cars the Galaxy is accurate to a speed 4/5ths of its top and the nackered Diesel Escort is out by 5 mph at 30 (reads under) and it justs gets worse. Set up the sat nav, go to a speed and hold until you get a steady reading then move up and hold in steady increments.
  24. I dream of being that close to a car on the road. Do what Longboarder says, just shut the door on it for a while.Meet up with some of the guys and go for a blat in their cars. After a trip in 3 so far it has got me back on track.... I know how tough it is.
