  1. I forgot to mention the Police bike...............
  2. Thanks Nigel i will do the measuring and have a further think. The scuttle is a solid all in one and without a lot of cutting and banging thats how it is going to be.
  3. I thought i could resist but i can't.... Honda Graduate 50cc ( used it to travel miles to meet up with girls parked it round the corner). Morris 1100 loads of room and the seats could be pushed forwards. Cortina mark 1 hand painted Black and Gold wide arches stuck to the outside. 4. I've read the threads, watched the tapes for the umpteenth time and have come to the conclusion that the removable scuttle is just that bit to tall. Where it meets the tub there is a slight curve. Not a problem to put a bit of wing trim in however when i try and fit the bonnet with the best will in the world it is not going to fit flush with the shell. When i push it far enough up over the scuttle it's 10 to 15mm out both sides, When it fits flush to the shell it is not supported by the scuttle, ( also pushes the nose cone about 50mm to far). I know that i will probably have to cut a bit off the nose end and will then need to form some sort of recessed support for the scuttle end. I just don't have the nerve to fix one side flush and over the scuttle and see if the other side can be pulled down...can you imagine all the holes in the metal and all that bad language......Any solutions from those that have done it?
  5. He says the tooling was a fortune.... does he still have it? If he has could he produce a few more?
  6. See Shandylegs post..its only the diff code i dispute.
  7. BEWARE......the diff ratio confusion issue still reigns... I have a diff tag that says 3.38 and the Vin plate says V This is info from Nigel and so far matches what i have found M=3.14 A=3.36 V=3.38 U=3.62 3=3.64 D=3.92 There seems to be a continual assumption that V = 3.62 when really it is 3.38 this incorrect info i think comes from the Granada Vin plate info, a site i found when looking for ford bits, or at least it is where my confusion started. I think that it is only the diff tag that can be trully trusted. According to fords own info sheet ( thanks again Nigel) my 2.0L saloon should only have a 3.38 if it was an auto and it wasn't !

    Help Required

Would Ron Chapmans book be what this man needs?
  9. Just got back from G8, thanks for all the info...I can now own up and say it was the missus driving our Galaxy to collect the boys from town and she triggered a speed camera that we both know is there. I would have owned up myself but the timings put me part way to Portsmouth. So she will take the rap.
  10. The car that was caught by the camera is mine, registered to me driven by some one else. At the time of the offence i was some where else in the firms car, I.E some one else was driving my car and went through a speed camera while i was else where. Do i gather from the posts so far that if the driver does not own up I will get the fine. Sorry for the confusion when i read my first post it was not clear. Keep the info comming i have 27 days to reply.
  11. Just got back from T200 and have recieved speed camera fine. I am safe because i was on the way to Portsmouth in a firms car with 2 others at the time. It's pretty obviouse who was driving, not that the safty camera people can prove it, but where do i stand if i say " wasn't me". If it stirs up a hornets nest I will get the offending person to own up. Anyone been in the same situation?

    Top Speed?

What we need is a Weight, BHP, Top speed table. It would be interesting to see what we expect from our cars, what we say we have and what is the real figure. I am going to get mine on the road pretty much standard, but have plans. If you have more BHP can you drive through the 3.62 diff and get good acceleration, a higher top end and easy cruising. One thing that i have not heard about is the ratio difference between the type 9 and the MT7. I know that Burton performance do close ratio gear clusters but they cost.

    Top Speed?

The Gear faces where they contact each other ( through enthusiastic effort or have exceding their design limits), have got so hot as to have caused the metal at the contact faces to become blue in colour, braking down the surface hardness. they then wear and become noisy... The bluing is what is known as "burnt"
  14. Sorry Guy mail on the way to explain... yes i would love it... One handed literature... spanner in the other. Further mail to Chris... with explanation and just to make the problem clear. I have lost everthing from the home computer to the point of re formatting the disc, yes i can access it at work but not with enough time to go back through all the posts and yes i did skip past Guys post, and have apologized
  15. Same sort of horrific accident happend 5 years ago at an air field in Scotland, ex RAF/USAF near Cambletown a guy decided to give large on his bike down the taxi way/second runway...was the longest in europe at one time... and T boned a couple of local maintainance workers doing 20 mph down the designated cross access route.... Tower has weather advise only so no comms.
  16. Im back on line at home. Story in chit chat soon... as you know i am away tommorow for a couple of weeks but i have just loaded cleaner from Descreet which is supposed to convert just about any audio or video file to what you need, however i dont have the manuals and it is a fairly high end programe.. if Bill has some trouble ( don't think he will) i will give it a go on my return ( I owe you a couple).
  17. Thanks. I will try and buy one, the download link is a problem for me as my home computer has had it to the point of self destuction, the works computer is dial up only ( they dont have broadband at the exchange yet) and i am off around the UK for the next couple of weeks...... If anyone has downloaded can i have a copy some time please.
  18. Had this book and in the last building project it went in the shed... and came out solid. Any one got one that they no longer need and want to sell.............please
  19. I bought a telemetrics speedo and was given a hall effect sensor. I didn't like the look of it so swapped it for a perception head with 4 magnets on the prop. Now the instuctions are s**t but it seems that the three types of sender are... driven by the gearbox but electric to the speedo. prop shaft 4 magnets and magnetic sensor which is what i have and is only 5mm in diameter or the hall effect which i think is much thicker and works off a slotted disc or tone wheel and has a formular of number off slots in disc x tyre revs/unit distance my instuctions for what their worth says front wheel mounted. Hope that helps a bit..if you need a copy of what i have mail me. just read the posts before mine, they posted while i was typing and researching. Got my bits from Europa and the perception head that came with magnets ( looks like it fits most electric speedos) was made by Caerbont Automotive Ltd the part No. is EMP30-1KIT
  20. Thanks Dave such a simple solution and i was too simple to think of it however i have a lot more P clipping to do and thats another solution i will put in to good effect. Ta.
  21. I know that some people have fitted camber wedges which should help by pushing the top of the tyre out. A quick fix may be to fit some wheel spacers, you can get thin ones that shouldn't push them out to far. As for the slight drop on one side, i am no expert but i would measure body to suspension both sides when it is on the ground and do it again with it jacked under the diff if you have different distances either side it could be the pre load on the shocks or check if you have any spacers under the tubes as i do on the zemmerides. That said i would always defer to the more experienced on this forum.
  22. What have people used on the series 3 to cover the big nut and plate that joins the anti roll bar to the track arm, i have seen half a tennis ball stuck over it, but it looked bad.
  23. Get the video camera out. I want to see it twist under all that torque and hear the noise. Is it modded BHP etc. Getting it in there how did you manage that?
  24. The Naked chef presents award to pie eating champion.
  25. P clips done at 150mm and just to make it more awkward the nylon clips were either to big or to small so I used polyurethane adhesive to glue in little bits of bike inertube. Why didn't I buy some of those nice rubberlined ones. Still picking the glue of my hands.
