  1. Actually I had forgotten I have a wedding on the Saturday down in Devon so it's very unlikely I will make Doddington either. So it looks like just the 4 of us for Stamford.
  2. The original Rover non-Turbo engine, but I guess that wouldn't make any difference ?
  3. It looks the internals of the Silencer and the Catalytic Converter have shaken loose on my Superspec so it isn't going to pass the MOT. Unfortunately as far as I know it was a bespoke part of the kit ? I know I could replace the silencer fairly easily but the cat is another matter. I remember seeing that GBS do a silencer/cat combo that could probably be made to fit. But does anyone know of an alternative solution ? Al
  4. Yes, Chrome and IE are fine for me as well but seeing this symptom on Firefox Logged out - shown as logged out Closed Browser Reopened browser Went to RHOCaR Showing as Logged IN So I guess it is a problem with just that browser.
  5. Good call, I had forgotten that. I now have mine printed as well
  6. That's very poor isn't it ? I have a suspicion you can only go if you have been before. Mind you, I haven't been back home to see if my pass has arrived yet Maybe I've been bumped as well
  7. I tried everything I could think of with my floor carpets but when I saw Pete Lee's car where he used aluminium treadplates I gave up on carpets and used those. Much nicer, easy to clean and don't get rucked up.
  8. As a general question, what do people use to glue the vinyl on ? I used EvoStik on mine but found that in very hot weather it melts and the vinyl at the back comes loose. (Mind you I got the glue from a Pound Shop so it might be a Chinese knock-off )

    Iva Questions

Cheaper on EBay - Item 321348985352
  10. Welcome to August. I'm still on extended holiday till the middle of the month (it's a hard life being retired), so we just have the 2 events I will be attending: 1. "HorsePower at the Hall" - Doddington Hall, near Lincoln. Sunday August 23rd at 14:00 2. Stamford Car Show - Sunday 30th August at 10:00. I see from the website they are now fully booked, but I gave everyone plenty of notice about this months ago so if you didn't book I have no sympathy Be grateful for names of those who did book in time and will be attending. So far: Me Nigel Duncan Pete Lee Richard7 More details nearer each of the dates as regards 'grouping up' for mass arrivals. And if anyone wants to arrange something else earlier on the month please feel free. Cheers Al
  11. For any non-Lincolnshire member who may have missed this, you are more than welcome to join up with Richard, Nigel and Helen 12:00 at the Muskham Ferry (http://www.muskhamferry.co.uk/) NG23 6HB. Al
  12. I'll take them thanks. PM sent.
  13. Well done to Richard and Tom for braving the elements How about we try again for next Sunday (26th). And it's time to move back down the County again so Richard gets a drive of more than 300 meters So I propose 12:00 at the Muskham Ferry (http://www.muskhamferry.co.uk/) NG23 6HB. Any takers ?
  14. Google doesn't return anything on 'Rover T20', but 'Rover T16' looks like the one Superspecs have Rover T-Series engine - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I suspect the '16' refers to the number of valves, not the capacity.
  15. No idea I'm afraid. My Superspec came with a radiator with no pressure cap so I am not sure what would happen. Sorry
  16. Assuming your system is the same as mine, we have the pressure cap on the bottle rather than on the radiator. So to get rid of the bottle you would have fit a new radiator that has a cap.
  17. Be interested in all the details when you finish, as I think the 420 ECU is pretty unobtainable now or even if you get one no-one knows how to disable the immobiliser, so to know how to replace it with the Emerald is a useful backup.
  18. Ford Transit I think although not 100% sure.
  19. My Superspec has always done this. I eventually figured out that I was actually overfilling it, so that when the engine was hot the expansion bottle filled and then overflowed. Once I stopped filling it up all the time, and it found it's own level it was fine.

    Hinges

In my case I have the deflectors as a permanent fit, and then just slot the doors on if it starts to rain. Works for me

    Hinges

Are you sure you need hinges ? Surely the side deflectors should be fixed ? I fashioned some stainless steel brackets that bolted onto the existing door hinges.
  22. You will be VERY lucky. My Superspec had a leaking sump when I bought it, for the same reason, the previous owner had grounded it. Every breaker's yard I went to burst out laughing when I mentioned the Rover 'T'., said they hadn't seen one for years. I searched on E-Bay, the Rover forum and everywhere I could think of with no luck. You might have to finish up buying an old Rover 420 just for the sump. But be VERY careful, as you want the alloy sump, otherwise you will have zero ground clearance, and you have to make sure it is from the non-turbo engine and also not from the diesel version, the sumps are all different. I finished up getting mine welded and although it still leaks, it isn't anything a piece of cardboard and a towel on the garage floor can't cope with You may have joined too late to see the article I wrote in 'Boys in Hoods' about the foibles of the Superspec, one of which was the ridiculously low ground clearance. After I had mine welded I wound up the front suspension about an 1" and fitted a sump guard from some scrap stainless steel. See http://the-superspec...ustment_10.html and http://the-superspec...sump-guard.html Since then I have had no problem at all. Al
  23. Cracking stuff. For some reason I had not seen that on my research, explains a lot. Although I have to say I did fit a spring to the end of the fork and it didn't really have much effect. But pleased to hear it probably isn't fatal Did you ever produce the Word doc ? if so I would love a copy in case I ever have to take the engine out for any reason.
  24. Chris Sorry, just realised you only joined recently so will not have seen the magazine. My apologies. I will PM you a copy of the article. You might also find it useful to check out my blog (in the signature) that covers 2 years experience with a Superspec. Cheers Al
  25. Normally I would offer to measure mine, but on extended vacation away from the car at the moment. But there must be another Superspec owner reading this who can do it for you ?
