I can fill my tank at full speed with no problem. I believe that this because the design of the Superspec fuel filler cap has a breather tube (about 10mm diameter) that goes from the tank to the filler neck just inside the car body. So this means the nozzle goes well past the breather tube opening allowing the air to flow out through the open cap.

Many of you will have noticed in the Area Secretary section of the Magazine that the majority of the posts remain unfilled. The statistics tell a sorry tale. Of the 23 areas only 7 have a functioning Secretary and of those, 3 of us are dual-hatted, also filling posts on the Committee. So that means out of a membership of about 380, a mere 9 people are helping to run the Club. And despite numerous requests for volunteers to fill the positions, only one person responded.
The Club cannot continue with this situation, so we are proposing to make some major changes. We still believe the Area Secretary system is essential, providing a link for members to the Committee and organising local events. However, as it is obvious we will never get enough people to fill the 23 Area Secretary posts we have decided to simplify the whole system. So in the future, rather than having areas based on counties we are going to go for simple geographic areas, breaking the UK up into 11 areas. This map shows the new areas and their new secretaries, including their forum name:
These are defined as:
Scotland Presently Unfilled
North East & Borders Alan (alantoon)
North West Darrell (Darrell)
Yorkshire/Lincs Andrew (Grim)
Wales Presently Unfilled
West Midlands Richard (richyb66)
Central Midlands Andi (Andi)
East Midlands Alan (alanrichey)
South West Presently Unfilled
South Central Tony (apgodden)
London & South East Neil (nelmo)So now we have set up a new structure it is up to you, the members and community users, to make it work. The limitations of GDPR prevent us from giving your details to the Area Secretaries so it is up to you to notify them of your intentions. If you would like to be involved in meeting up with other owners in your area then you have 2 choices. First, add your location to the forum Member Map which will confirm you are happy for your location to be shared and for the Secretary to contact you. Secondly, notify your local Secretary and give them permission to pass your username and town to others on their list. If you feel strongly that you do not want to be involved, then you can also tell them, although if they get no message from you they will assume you are not interested. If you cannot work out who is your best secretary message me on the forum system and we can discuss it.

I think they are way to big. You need to shrink them, preferably well below 1Mb each. If I post pictures taken on my iPhone I resize them to be 15% of the original size.

Wow, not cheap. I think I paid less than half that off EBay, I guess it was second-hand.

Hi Matthew
I'm the member who replied to your message on Facebook
As to this specific question, there are none around that I am aware of, mainly because the design of the Superspec means the car runs very low and sumps have a very short life. Personally I am on my second sump and even that has had to be welded twice. So like most owners I have fitted a heavy duty steel sump guard. It reduced your ground clearance slightly but will take a lot more punishment.
Also there are 2 different types of sump depending on which model of Rover your engine was destined to be fitted. Some models used a steel sump and some used an alloy sump. Test it with a magnet to see which you have.
Your first port of call for any spare parts for the engine is Rimmer Bros (https://rimmerbros.com/) who bought up all the spare parts when Rover folded. Unfortunately for you the advertise the sump as 'not currently available'. So your only chance if yours is not repairable is a scrap yard, although scrap Rovers are becoming very rare now.
You could also try the RoverMG forum at https://www.mg-rover.org/forums/ and see if get any joy there, although I am not confident.
Anyway download that package and come back to me if you need any more information.

Afraid not Only about 30% of the members have put their location on the map. I recently welcomed someone from Market Rasen so they are North of you.

Well that was a pleasant surprise considering I picked that place with the Google equivalent of throwing a dart at a map.
Obviously the weather was perfect, and the drive there was enjoyable but the Park was really nice. My concern of the size of the car park from Google Maps was unfounded once I saw they had a huge overflow car park in the field next to the main car park. So we were spoilt for choice.
So a couple of hours sitting around chatting and eating followed by a short wander around the park finishing off with inevitable ice cream and a nice day was had by all. The Park is particularly good for children so if anyone is local with children I would heartily recommend it.
Cheers
Al

You don’t give the price or model, but at this time of year we see lots of cars coming up for sale at silly prices as people try to cash in on the good weather and buyers are keen to have a car for the summer. Depending on model I would expect a good condition, properly registered, MOTd, Robin Hood (2B, Exmo, 3A, S7…) should be around £3500-£4000. A Superspec would have a premium of about £500 as all the parts were brand new at build.

I’ve seen a map, but in case no-one sends it to you we are across the road from where we usually are, second block back.
when you arrive go through the middle pay lane and follow the track round to the right.

Even though we have a fairly busy month already, with the Kimbolton Show on the 10th and Newark on the 23/24th, we can't waste this glorious weather. So initially, we are planning to meet up on Wednesday the 13th.
Haven't decided on a location yet, that will depend on who is going to attend. A usual I will try and aim we all get a 30-50 min drive to somewhere with a decent car park and room for a picnic. Any suggestions always welcome.

June has been a bit of a mixed month for the Club Membership. It's been good to see 24 existing members have renewed their membership and continue to support the Club.
On the down side we have lost 10 members who decided not to renew. To be fair, those that contacted me were either stopping through ill health or they had sold their car, so I hope that most current members who still have their cars have renewed.
On the upside, however we can welcome 9 new members. So overall the membership has just dropped by just one, sitting now at 378.
While quite healthy, it is still low by historical standards, so I will continue to encourage those Community Users who use the forum a lot and are getting useful information from the replies, to seriously consider contributing to the Club and registering as members. Don't forget the discount you will get from your insurance company will help to cover the cost, and a few cheap coffee and burgers at the shows will help to cover the rest.
So we welcome the following new members (as usual the second column is their username so you can contact them if you find someone close to you and would like to meet up).

Standard problem on the Superspec, although 103 is a bit excessive. What do you have the fan set for ? I use an 88C thermostat coupled with a 95C fan switch and that seems to work.
Can’t comment on the effect the turbo has, but I will message you with names I have for other turbo owners so you can check with em.

I've just heard that Ivan Farrington (wanderer on the forum) passed away recently. Ivan was a long time Club member and many of us will remember him well as he made a point of going to every show and Club meet possible, even driving 4-5 hours to get to them. I was particularly close to him as he was one of the first Superspec owners I encountered, some 9 years ago, and it was the first time I had seen one of the gold 'titanium' finished cars. We spent lots of time discussing the foibles of the car design and how we were going to fix them. I will miss his company.
I am trying to contact his family through the new owner of his car and I will pass on condolences on behalf of the Club.

Lovely day out, each of us had between 40mins and 80 mins drive. Plenty of room in the car park so we parked in our usual position next to the Hunter and the Jetstream. Sat on the grass for our picnic, watching the aircraft, including the Spitfire. A bit hot of course so we had to move into the shade. And we managed to meet up with a new member who is getting his turbo Superspec being built so we could show him 2 completed examples, although the naturally aspirated types. That might be it for June now, although you never know

You are probably going to have to dismantle some of it. Firstly as the IVA inspector will want photos of the invisible bits (think seat belt lower mountings) and, more importantly, that the work carried out so far is safe and of a high standard.
-
You will probably be OK although that depends on the examiner. it might be worth checking with the IVA staton you intend to use. They may that a plate could be removed so you must engrave the number on the chassis itself.
-
Interesting. My VIN Is stamped on the top chassis tube on the left side of the car. Mind you, she went through the SVA in 2008, maybe it changed with introduction of the IVA.

As I thought, although we have already had a meet for June, it was very early, and the weather is so good that we are going to have another. It will be our usual lunchtime picnic (bring a chair) and it will be on Tuesday 21st June.
We are going to revisit Sywell Aerodrome (NN6 0BN) as it has a reasonably big car park, nice grass areas to sit on, overlooking the airfield, a small mesuem and, of course, aircraft. It is the home of the Blades aerobatic team who were at home when we last there and we also had a Spitfire selling rides.
See you there

Not an easy question Offically all the guidance said it was off a Ford Fiesta, but looking a bit desper we now think it came from a Ford Escort. That makes more sense as the instrument cluster is off a Ford Escort so the sensor and guage would match. The problem is that some of the cars had a Mk2 instrument cluster and some had a Mk5 cluster. I've looked at pictures of each one and the Mk5 looks the closest to what I have.
Hope that helps.

A great day out. For me a 100 mile round trip in perfect weather and road conditions (Except for the occasional gust of wind to make it 'interesting'). Unlike the last time when you just couldn't move for cars, this time there were a reasonable turnout, mainly GBS Zeros, 4 Robin Hoods (I think, although I may have missed some)) and a smattering of 'others' (Ford Mustang, Ferrari kit...), so there was plenty of room to park in the forecourt. Apart from Dave(Hawknorth) , by coincidence the other 2 hoods were from Grantham very close to me. As the new Membership Secretary I gave the hard sell for the Club
Note the price on the latest Zero (Ouch!)
Here are 2 Hoods
And I managed a prime position in front of the Showroom
And the cakes were as good as ever !!
