Just in case the alternator doesn't fix it..... I had similar problem swapped alternator - no difference Turned out there is a diode built in to the wire from the alternator to the dash light ( on efi's anyway )which had failed. Added a diode to the dash light and problem solved

I thought the timing adjusted itself in the EFI setup and the only adjustment was by earthing one wire and adjusting the dizzy would only cause it to remap itself. Am I totally misguided?

How it got sorted Engine was running fine - then did its old trick of misfiring like a ...... and then cut out altogether. Having changed dizzy cap, rotor arm, leads, plugs, ignition module I poked my hand under the dash and eventually found by gently pulling on the loom to the ecu I could make the problem come and go - dashboard out - sorted out the wiring and it hasn't misfired since! Also my ecu was mounted on the ford holder thingy and was vibrating like a vibratey thing - put in a piece of dense foam between it and the chassis tube to dampen the vibration which I think caused the problem in the 1st place. Just when I was ready to throw my toys out of the pram as well

Not Birmingham but - I still think the best way is to go in person with all the docs and get them to call you as soon as their paperwork is complete - I went one morning and was on the road the next morning

stu205 re the Veypor see here Veypor It was unbelievably simple to set up - all the setup stuff is on the manuals on the web site and it does so much more than I expected ( 0-60's fuel prediction etc etc ) and here it is

That was my plan - mount it on the propshaft then use a TomTom to set it up

I was going to fit a wireless one ( Sigma 700 ) but went for a Veypor electronic one instead so not sure about the range. It is up for grabs in the members area

Thanks but ECU I am looking for is 86FB 12A297 AA unless anyone knows if they are compatible ? In the meantime I got an ignition module off e-bay Germany for 15 euros which didn't resolve - but I've solved it ( loose wire at the ECU connector! ) A spare efi ECU would certainly be useful - anyone ?

Yes - coils are notorious for misbehaving when hot - swap it out....

Glad I went digital - the cable ones seem nothing but hassle...............

I used the spare wire for the rear wiper for the fog light

I used 'Kingspan' building insulation 35mm thick foam with foil both sides - should be available from most builders merchants. Normally it is used inside a cavity wall.

Suspect it is the ignition module - anyone ?? Beer tokens waiting!

Has anyone got spare 2.0 Pinto EFI bits Want:- EFI bit of wiring loom / ECU / Ignition module to try and cure a really annoying and intermittant misfire - HELP!!!

re - removing windscreen I removed mine for the SVA - just filled the holes with blanking grommets - inspector never even commented on it. I used the £8 svc mirror - passed despite the fact I can hardly see a thing in any of the mirrors!
