  1. It is looking like they are trying to crack down on folks buying 'part builds'.... WHY ?????
  2. Nice to hear of companies who won't just take the money and run and are genuinely interested enough to try and help with the diagnosis even if it costs them the sale.....

    Harrogate

Was working in 'Grizzly' territory today. Perfect driving weather - sun splitting the sky. Was so wishing I took the hood until on the way back 10 miles from home ( Edinburgh ) the heavens opened. ( still wish I took it )

    Cheap Brake Cleaner

It's probably Austrian Wine ( the one that makes you blind! )
  6. Back of right leg - ouch - noticed the smell of burnt flesh before the pain hit.... That was on the RH exhaust - new custom job gets just warm enough to warm your hands at red lights
  7. Oh dear - sounds like a plentiful supply of clean pants and tissues required
  8. Does such a thing exist? Where can I get one - mine is random whether or not it obliges - bit like a woman really.........
  9. Not necessarily( well in Scotland anyway ) if they have tied the offences together if one is thrown out the other goes too. I was once charged with careless driving and failing to report an accident for knocking a cars wing mirror off with a 15 ton truck - got off with the failing to report an accident as the sheriff believed I was oblivious to the fact I had done it and therefore I did not have to answer the other charge. I had volunteered to plead guilty to the careless driving but not to the failure to report an accident but the procurator fiscal refused to separate the charges. Was a marked man by the constabulary for years after....... could hardly get in a vehicle without getting stopped....

    Paint Code

Graham, I think Halfrauds can give you a code with some sort of scanner. Seem to remember it is a renault or citroen colour. Once you have the code Lothian Brakeways ( back of LIDL in Dalkeith ) can make up aresol cans for not too many £'s. How is the build going? Drop me a PM and I'll pop round now summer is here!

    The Hood Strikes Back

Does anyone know the point of the 'built up inspection' seems to me it could / should all be done at SVA time? ( nice lad at DVLA forgot I needed one and just issued me a reg the day after my SVA )

    The Hood Strikes Back

Wow! long build - worth the wait now SMILE And the first question folks ask is - Did you build it yourself? Satisfying to say -Yes I did !
  13. When I got my new back box made the guys extended support brackets from the angle iron supporting the seats and used the rubber bobbins so that they were in compression as the engine shifts. It is a much better arrangement than the one I had!

    Bright 6

I used the Bright6 to do everything but the rear fog light ( used the rear wiper conection on the stalks as a fog light switch and put a seperate light on the dash - needs to have correct symbol on it )

    Axle Width

Normally narrower at the front than the back - but tyre sizes usually the same ( probably due to the sierra base car - perhaps they shouls be different ???? )
  22. Yes Speedo and rev counter is a veypor unit - no problem lights should be fine as long as they have symbols on them
  23. I tapped 4mm holes into the windscreen frame but now would probably just use Sikaflex as the guys who have used this method seem to find it reliable. I fitted the awning rail to the front of the screen as I think it gives a neater finish but most seem to prefer fitting to the top.....
  24. Well Done Still at the DVLA?......................
