  1. Had them in mine for 7 years now, still find them very comfy, even on long journeys. And not really showing any sign of wear, can't fault them! Bri
  2. Couldn't see pic Bob- it wasn't Joe Coolens radio controlled pulse jet by any chance? bri

    Scottish Membership

My lad works for autoglass and did a job for a guy near Aberdeen. Guy said he had a few cars including a RH2B, 'bet you've never heard of one of those lad...'- my lad enjoyed telling him that his dad had built one! Small world.
  4. I want it to use to cut my grass, not be part of some medieval reinactment mularky. You'd only nick them and make a fire out of them anyway, I've seen you in action at stoneleigh...

    ?

If you are Wigan way any time soon, I'm pretty sure I have a set spare. And a spare timing light (i Iost one then found it after buying another, wife had been tidying up again...). Bri
  6. Old post I know, but time for an update. Mick is a top man, the OKO has kept the tyres up for ages now, absolutely made up with the stuff. Saved me a load of hassle. Ta again, Bri
  7. Thanks for replies. Not sure I'd like to use it for drinks if top was glued/loctited in TBH, that was first thing I thought of. If the hoodies don't have a solution looks like it it destined for box of bits that might come in handy one day! Cheers, Bri
  8. Pete, I'm still up for it. Was supposed to be in Argentina most of the summer but job got postponed to next Feb. Even if a small number go, could still be good. Bri
  9. I've got a water bottle that leaks, and as such is chuff all use. Any ideas how I might repair it? The brass 'ring' is quite loose in the alloy material of the bottle so water just leaks out through the gap. Any ideas gratefully received. ta, bri

    Edis 4

Hi, I'm after an EDIS4 with connector/pigtail of cable for a DIY mappable ignition project. Thanks, Bri
  11. Thanks folks, I quite like the look of those, I'll try to get some at Stoneleigh.
  12. Thanks Ant (and everyone else, but esp. Ant). Any chance of a photo please?
  13. I’m looking at changing my headlights, hopefully buying some at Stoneleigh. Any suggestions of good ones to go for? SVC have some oval Hellas that look a bit different, but I’ve never seen them on a 7. Quite fancy plastic shells, less to rust and reflect sun. Existing are bog standard RH 7” sealed beams, I’ve got better lights on my push bike! Cheers, Bri

    Speed Sensor Magnets

If in doubt, do a lash up on the bench. I agree, with 2 wire sensor, I'm thinking you need magnets, but I've not seen a reed switch in that style before. I've used a single magnet on driveshaft for my cycle speedo and it works just fine. My proper speedo has a 3 wire inductive proximity switch picking up driveshaft flange bolts and that works fine too! HTH, Bri
  15. I'll make an exception for delia, He needs all the space he can get for pots and pans. And a pod is too quirky to count as a true caravan.
  16. Top Gear have got the right idea for caravans... Caravans and Hoods shouldn't be on same forum!

    1,6 Pinto

I got about a tenner weighing mine in. Nobody seems interested in them.
  18. My vernier cam pulley was 20 odd quid off ebay. Rolling road man got 3 or 4 hp increase by adjusting it. Bri
  19. Single nozzle it is then. I use so little washer fluid, MOT man advised last year that I replace liquid in bottle as it was becoming gloopy. It had been there since SVA 6 years earlier... Cheers, Bri
  20. I need to relocate my washer nozzles after doing fixed scuttle mod (nearly complete). I have 2 nozzles at the moment, off an MGF IIRC, each having 2 jets (total of 4 jets). Would just 2 jets give enough fluid to satisfy windscreen washing requirement of MOT and keep screen clear? Just thinking it is easier/tidier to fit the one nozzle, as long as it does the job. TIA, Bri
  21. The factory when I was an appentice had halon auto extinguishers in control room. Something like 30 seconds after fire alarm going off they would operate. I remember one day when fire alarm went off and everybody legged it out of the main door (down a narow passage). Unfortunately, one bloke was just on his way in, he was knocked to the ground by the opening door and 6 or 7 blokes trampled over him in their hurry to get out. Don't seem to have nearly as many funny things happening in work these days.
  22. Thanks Steve, yours is indeed a very neat job. I have a heater and quite a bit of other gubbins over the transmission tunnel so I can’t support off there unfortunately. Probably 25x25x3 angle to pick up scuttle side of hinge, ends cut and bent down to sloping tubes as you call them. This can support new fixing for wiper motor as well, mounted vertically rather than horizontally as before. Did you have to put much stiffening steel under moving part of bonnet i.e. where new hinges are? I’m still thinking I’ll need rubber sealing strip between firewall and scuttle, as I plan on making scuttle removable, yours looks metal to metal and more permanent. Cheers, Bri
  23. I'd be up for it if date was right. Had some great days out on boats. My tackle might be a bit light for wrecking but it does sound good. Keep us informed of plans. I've tried to organise trips from work but it is hard to get a 'good' tide on convenient days. Bri
  24. I’ve cut bonnet now and am weighing up how to support hinges, re-make and seal bulkhead etc. I’ve got a few ideas but would welcome any tips/ suggestions from those that have already been down this path. Car is 2B BTW. Pics would be interesting, I’ve seen many of the finished article but not the hidden parts. TIA, Bri
  25. Bonnet locating pins as suggested by Nicko, that's what I'm after. As Mitch says, I'm going fixed scuttle. I cut the bonnet last night... I had in mind these things to use where the 2 lower parts of the bonnet come together to keep the panels in line when bonnet is closed. BRAINWAVE !!! Just realised I've got some similar things that were used as floor spikes on floor standing speakers, M6 threaded and all. I was saving them in case I ever needed to make some medieval weaponry. Great result, thanks all, bri
