  1. Is there any minimum standard a car needs to be in to be SVA'd? If I can get something that is 95% complete, can I get a nice long failure list and fix those over the next 6 months or will they refuse to test it?
  2. Set on ebay for about £100 less than retail at the moment. Just search Robin Hood Kit Car.
  3. Slab of Kendal Mint Cake strapped to a St Bernard and pointed in the direction of the M4. Just try and hold on until Snorbitz gets there!! We are just about holding out in deepest darkest Surrey. Ventured outside but beaten back by the withering sunlight and high temperatures. Anyone got any sunblock?
  4. I would echo what everyone else has said. I have had a part built for a couple of years and in that time, have had to take most things back to basics. Just finishing off the last structural bits and bobs now but still have a lot to do. Rule of thumbs I discovered. 1. If someone tells you it's 95% built and just needs a good weekend to get it ready for SVA, offer to pay them £100 for a weekends work to finish it. If not, assume it's 5% completed and needs 95% of reverse engineering. 2. If someone tells you that all the bits are there to complete it and it looks pretty much together, budget for another £500 for rivets, seals, bolts, plate etc. 3. Enjoy it. It's great fun but lobbing one together over the winter may be a little optimistic. I'm looking at 3 years from getting mine to have it through the SVA and that doesn't seem too bad. Some Hoddie builders have been known to go through a marriage or two before completing their project. Good luck. There's plenty of knowledgeable people on here that have a wealth of building experience (of which I am certainly not one ) KO
  5. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Robin-Hood-2-Litre-8...A1%7C240%3A1318 Hi Mart You seem to have accidentially put a reserve on? Good luck.
  6. I thought for the SVA, it needed full tadpole rubber. Doesn't matter, I have some now so an easy job. I have got some DVD's somewhere but can't find them. Mind you, watching them delicatly enlarge a hole with the aid of a club hammer might have encouraged me no to look too hard and rely on the advice on here for the few bits I needed Will try and find them again at the weekend.
  7. You'll have to forgive me Chris but I'm doing a lot of reverse engineering on this car as I bought it pre-bodged and am finding things may not have been constructed as they should have been. At the moment, I have 3 components. 1. The side sheet 2. The floor sheet 3. The Chassis tubular frame. The section in question is from the front wheel to the rear wheel as illustrated in the above pictures. At the moment, the 2 panels are affixed for about half the distance from the front wheel back. There they part company and a increasing gap appears until the pannels finish by the rear wheel arch. They are approximatly 1" apart at the rear. Fortunately, I have had to remove the rear arches as the previous incumbent neglected to put tadpole rubber between the arch and side panel so if I have to take off the sides and rebend, I can. Do I need to do this?

    Spare Wheel

Has anyoneone got a spare Aray wheel knocking around? I have a spare Alloy but if I can get a reasonable cost spare, would like to keep the set the same. Cheers

    Club Magazine

Haven't received mine yet but only rejoined a couple of weeks ago so probably last on the list for dispatch
  10. So, the outside panel is bent under the tubular steel back on itself and affixed to the floor sheet? That's what I was planning but was going to nut and bolt it rather than rivet it for strength. As for the angle iron, was going to run that further along the plate to get 2 bolts in it at the end although with the front one, was just going to drill through the chassis and bolt a M12 straight through.
  11. Hi Chaps Can someone post me a couple of piccies of the underside edge of the car by the mounting plate for the seat / rear axle. Basically, I just want to see how people have fixed off the side pannels and seat supports to the frame. Cheers. KO

    Toe Rags

My local Co-op has done that. Must say, I find it bloody irritating
  13. It's not safe. I asked if anyone knew a chap called Roy Bennett who was in my Village and on the list only to learn he had dies earlier this year. Coincidence or a sign of the times? Actually, I was glued to a program last night called "This is England". Totally compelling but truly frightening.

    Toe Rags

Just make sure you die if they shoot you otherwise you will get sued by the oiks for trauma and post traumatic stress brought ou by them shooting you. You will probably then get fined for littering blood all over the place and have a surcharge imposed for calling the ambulance out.
  15. PML. Did you go for girly pink or "well 'ard" blue? You could be on something with the water idea or what about: "Socks. Buy one, get one free" "Hair cut, while you wait" or even "Gordon Browns fiscal rules"
  16. Yeah, but if they gang up with the Catering boys, they might mince us out of town
  17. That's the point I suppose. Because it's the BNP, it's a bit of a laugh and serves them right but if it were say, tax payers or bank customers names, addresses and phone numbers, it would be unnacceptable. The fact that the BNP are against the Data Protection Rights and Human Rights is desperatly funny seeing as they are now bleating about their "rights" being infringed but they do have a point. Even scum deserve protection under the law. Still, it's hard to feel sorry for them
  18. I see your point and it's interesting looking down the list seeing the different walks of life that people come from. A retired Major from Cranleigh that is now a Schools teacher and a Lecturer at the University of Surrey are 2 that I picked out. I also notices a Husband and Wife along with their 18 year old Daughter and 14 year old son a few miles down the road from me in Witley. All with phone numbers, physical addresses, email addresses etc. Obviously this does pose a security liability and lets hope that there will be no attacks. Still, it is one in the eye for the BNP, their supporters and the vile message they spread.
  19. Anyone else laugh their arse off over this story I know it's a legitimate party and I know we all have the right to follow whichever political persuasion we desire as long as it's legal. However, what made me laugh was the panic of members who thought they might be exposed by being on this list. Come on BNP members, I thought you were proud to be members of the white supremacy. Don't go getting all shy on us. You're not worried about your friends, family and employers discovering you're a member of the BNP are you
  20. Sod a check-up. I need a full Physical. A through one with a comprehensive workout and I have no, no-claims so I need the complete service with no deductions. Hubba, hubba
  21. If you go on Fleabay and do a search on the old part number, it will display new auctions with them on. I bought one and did some bench marks and it's fine. OK, it's not a engineers Micrometer but is more than suitable for any normal Vernier work. Good value for money I say.

    Opportunity

Come on Mitch. A true RH engineer wouldn't know how to use one of them new fangled phone gadgets. MM has just passed the entry qualification if you ask me (Just joking Mower Man and good luck )
  23. Hey big "G". Good to hear from you again. Don't have to worry about the speedo as it's electronic and the pickups are off the prop and down the channel. Bit of ply it is then. Thanks everyone.
  24. There is a stunning V8 3.5 in there but a bit too much weight methinks
  25. What have different people done for the floor in the cockpit? I wanted to use that cris-cross steel until I found out the price but may just use some marine ply and cover it with an industrial floor covering. Anyone got pictures? Cheers
