  1. I'm a skilled FITTER! I spent 4 years as an apprentice learning the basic's on crap pay.

That was a short apprenticeship Jim, how did you get away with that? We had to do 5 years down here in the south-ish.

  2. James if you ran it out last time and only put 15 litres in what makes you think that you have used 25 litres? I would suggest that you have only used 15 litres, probably because that is all that can be poured in. The usual suspect is that the fuel filler pipe goes into the tank too far and when the fuel rises to the bottom of the tube there is a large area of air trapped in the top of the tank. Either shorten the tube so it only enters the tank by about 20mm or drill acouple of holes throught he side of the tube (inside the tank) to let the air out.

  3. They do look very nice Chris, it is a very short manifold too. The 'popping' would indicate an air leak somewhere on the manifold side of the carbs, check the gaskets/mounting rings and if there are any tappings in the manifold make sure they are sealed ok. I expect it sounds quite nice though!

  4. This is my favourite picture of a young lad learning how sliding pillar suspension works, a Gallic RS?

    Peter :D

p.s. I am sure that Porsche and even Rover haven't got sliding pillars!

  5. Alan Rowe has a V8 in his and Tricky put a V12 in one. so a v6 shouldn't be a problem! They are just a bit narrower across the seats than the series 3 but built out of slightly thicker material.

  6. Ray, assuming it is a series 1 Sierra and not a cortina based one, (or even Triumph) then you will need the front crossmember from an early Sierra, there is an angle iron structure that fits on to where the engine mounts were to form the top wishbone arrangement. Have you got a build manual? As Terry said look at the NW hoodie site and see if you can spot what you have got.

    Peter.

  7. Quote 'But there is a lot of difference between the Morgan and RH designs'

I think it is only that Morgan has spent about 80 years trying to get it to work. Even they have abandoned it for the Aero.

  8. Jason there should be 2 bolts on each bracket if you have the standard Sierra roll bar set up but it could be a good time to throw it away and fit tie bars/compression struts. call them what you will but the handling and ride will be much improved.

    Peter.

  9. Iain, funnily enough I was looking at a caterham that came to the herts meeting on sunday, it has a K series and that has a great area of flywheel exposed, it could have done with a cover plate on the back of the block. It just struck me as a bit worrying in case something got in there. Still who am I to say as I havent got a cam belt cover. (ducks from Jim).

  10. Vinney, the picture has to be less than 50Kb to show, also add your location in your details and I am sure there will someone near to help and drink your tea!

    Peter.

  11. David the superspec Hoodz have the T series Rover in, it seems to be not straight forward bolting to the type 9 gear box. Big Jim posted a picture some time ago of the demonstrator car arrangement, if you do a search on this site you may be able to find it, if not ask Jim he will send it to you or some of the Superspecers will have some pictures/advice.

    Regards Peter.

  12. Thankz chapz, the police arrived this morning and were pretty good really. Whoever it was was pretty determined to get in, even broke one of our outside sensor lights. It looks as we possibly disturbed them on returning so not too much missing, bummer was it was the most sentimental jewelery from the wifes family. Spent the day repairing window frames etc. instead of going out in the car.

    Peter.
