  1. Hi, I am looking at running down to Stafford show on Saturday morning 1st thing. I know that there will be at least myself + 1 other car going, however want to know if anyone else wants to tag along or wether we can meet up with anyone along the way.... Probably setting off around 8am ish from J36 M1 will probably turn off at J28 onto the A50. By far and away the longest trip in my 2B to date, hope to see you all there...!
  2. Sorry to hear that the engine gave up. Hope the new one works out for you. Are you going to the Stafford show on 19th- 20th? If so I am planning to take the 2B down for a run?
  3. Hi, Yes I did something similar. Bought a sheet of Carbon effect plastic from CBS (Approx £28 I think) and used some brushed stainless to contrast the dials/ carbon with. Used Capri clocks which I cut up and re-mounted as shown. Pretty happy with the end results. Looks a Zillion times better than the old Sierra clock set up I put in place for SVA . Piccies below:
  4. Hi Dunc, Have you managed to blow the old gal up already? Or is this an upgrade? Hope you have it back on the road soon...
  5. Hi, Thought I'd give an update to what I found... Thanks for the pump Andy, although unfortunately did not make any difference. So stripped down Carb abd adjusted floats to recommened settings. Again made no real difference, although the floats were found to be out of adjustment by quite a bit... Thanks to Nigel, who lent me the use of his fuel pressure guage. Found that the pressure was almost 7PSI....way way too much. No wonder the old gal was a bit thirsty and would flood. Bought an adjustable fuel regulator and now running at 2.5-3PSI. So far fingers crossed the car seems to be running fine and is not flooding on me. I hope to give it a good test when driving down to Stafford and hope I won't be making so many visits to the pumps on the way!
  6. Nice one Andy, Looks like you cleaned the car specially for the photo shoot.... Glad it went okay without too many drama's. Are you going to Stafford?
  7. Hi Nick, Also was unable to come, probably a good thing as I would have been bailing out the car cause it aint stopped p***ing it down yet! Shame as it would be my last run out this year due to tax running out end of the month. Is anyone arranging a convoy/ trip down to Stafford? Hopefully will have stopped raining by then so looking at driving down in the 2B.
  8. Hi Jason, Is the exhaust silencer still available? If so I could pick up tonight/ weekend as only a few miles away. Fed up with being deaf in my right ear!
  9. Hi Carl, Thought you were getting bitten by the build bug after you fitted the hood...Sure you will enjoy the challenge of a full build.. If You do sell, make sure you are back on the road next year. I need someone local who can help me push mine....! Let us know how you get on.
  10. Hi Carl, Ha Ha very funny...Guess looks ain't everything....Just as well eh! Yes good decent turnout 7 cars turned up. Lovely drive out as weather was spot on. Nearly got wiped out by an Owl on the way back though, missed my head by inch's. Very nearly had a brown adrenaline rush.... By the way I will check the belt as I only replaced it 2 weeks back. Doesn't seem slack or to be slipping, however with Head lights on it's under more load, so worth investigating further.
  11. Hi, I might be worrying over nothing here, but thought I'd ask the question.... Last night whilst driving home from the area meet, I noticed for the 1st time that the battery warning light was partially illuminated (by this I mean that the bulb filament was glowing very dim, but not fully light, really difficult to see). It looks as though I may be getting some small transient voltage to the warning light? The alternator is almost new, only done 1300 miles. Is this a problem waiting to happen or do I just ignore it? Any advice on this is welcome!
  12. Hi Dunc, I will be meeting up with another in Sheffield, however I will be cutting across from J36 of M1 into sheffield. You could meet there or meet us at the Ladybower in approx 7pm before heading off to the Fox. Let us know if you want to meet up along the way.
  13. Any of you who went to Barkstone, I want to see some photo's.....As I was unable to go and really jealous of those who did!
  14. Hi Carl, Will try and make it also, dependant on weather... Can meet up again if you want for run across. Meet up at the garage we stopped at last time if you want as it's a smoother run from J36? Let me know time...
  15. Decided to be adventurous and take the car on it's longest run yet...(still gaining confidence as it has only been on the road a few months). Took it to the Northern classic car show at Ripley Castle, North Yorkshire (150mile round trip). Great day in stunning settings. Met up with 3 other hoodies. Great weather for a change, and the car ran trouble free (apart from getting beached on a speed hump out of the show. Had to get a security guard to literally give a lift!) Now done 1300 miles since May without any majors so guess I should enjoy the weather whilst it lasts.....
  16. Hi, Will be travelling up A1 to Harrogate. Leaving home approx 8.30am. If anyone wants to meet up along the way let me know.
  17. Hi, Just wondering if anyone is driving up to the North Yorkshire Classic car show at Ripley castle Harrogate tomorrow. Thought I might give it a try as weather is supposed to be okay.... If anyone is going along let me know.
  18. Hi Andy, Yes might take you up on that. Will you be at the Fox on Wed?
  19. Hi Mike, Yes using a mechanical type pump and seems to have plenty of pressure. Looks like a weekend strip down of the carbs to check out the float chamber. Thanks for the info.
  20. Hi, Hope someone can point me in the right direction.... I have an issue which is puzzleing me. It only occurs when I am going downhill (bit of a pain as I live on a hilll). The car will splutter and cut out at low rev's. It appears to be an over fueling/ flooding issue, as I need to press Accelerator peddle fully down to restart. Sometimes I can clear trhe problem by revving hard for a while. On the restart/ revving I can smell unspent fuel kicking out of the exhaust! I have a 38DGAS weber carb which has been jetted for 2.0l pinto. Car seems to run fine on flat or uphill. Any suggestions?
  21. Hi Dan, If weather looks ok I'll be along.
  22. Hi Wooley, Yes. Spent the past 25 years in electronics manufacturing... A bulging Top on an electrolytic Cap, usually means that it has got very hot. If they get to hot they will explode (Aluminium cap with cross on top will blow out). If I was you I'd change the CAP's as a matter of course. As stated above, pretty easy to change and very cheap. Make sure that when you refit Capacitors that you take note of polarity. (Usually denoted with a white strip down one side which signifies -ve lead) If you fit it in wrong way around and power up CAP will probably explode.... Good luck
  23. Hi Graham, As Richard has stated there are different types of suspension set ups for the 2b. Both Mine and Carls are the sliding pillar suspension, however the front and side panels should be the same regardless, just with different cut outs you will need to make to allow for the wish bone brackets/ suspension arms. I will try and get some photo's posted later showing you how mine fit.
  24. Hi Graham, If you are doing the rounds, more than welcome to pop over to Barnsley (Wombwell). I had to replace all the major panels so may be able to give a few pointers as well. PM me if you are interested.
  25. Hi Graham, You will find a really good piece on fitting the side panels on NW RHOCAR PANEL FITTING. I followed this info when replacing my side panels with no major issues. Good Luck
