    Twin Weber 45's

For Sale - Virtually* new pair of Twin Weber 45's and all ancillaries, including: >75mm manifold to suit Pinto engine, with take-off for cooling system and vacuum tap. >Genuine Weber twin top-mount linkage kit >Choke cable (stiff-inner type) >Genuine Weber Throttle Position Sensor >Various spares including long trumpets *I say virtually new as they did run briefly on my car, though I didn't have the time or money to have them set up properly so they never got past the idling on the drive phase. Other than that they are brand new. These were bought brand new by a friend for his 2B project (he gave them to me in thanks for building his car!), and I was present when he bought them, so to the best of my knowledge they are a matched pair and are setup with a modified pinto in my mind. I'm afraid I don't know any jet sizes or anything like that. One of the lugs in the carb housing, where it bolts to the manifold, has a hairline crack. It is still attached and seems to be holding firm, though I would imagine it's repairable. The Throttle Position Sensor is designed for use with an ignition setup, such as megajolt etc. Technically I don't need to sell the air filter (it's an ITG JC-50 Megaflow sausage filter), but if it makes the difference to someone... That's over a grands worth of kit!! So; Everything £650.00 Everything (minus Air Filter) £590.00 Everything (minus Air Filter and TPS) £545.00 Plus postage where applicable on all the above. Local delivery possible in Coventry / North Warwickshire Area.

    Fuel Tank

For Sale - used Robin Hood Fuel tank. 40 litre, stainless, designed for 2B but may fit Sub-K and possibly superspec, but check dimensions first. 1050mm long 150mm wide (deep) 244mm tall (with an additional flange taking it to 264mm) It has two holes, one for the filler pipe, one for the fuel sender. Both are approximately 62mm diameter, and both are 280mm from either end, and 70mm from the back (centres). The sender hole has 4 studs brazed on to accept a Sierra fuel sender. The filler hole accepts the rubber doughnut gasket from the Sierra fuel tank (supplied). The sender hole is on the drivers side and the filler hole on the passenger side, although technically there's no reason why you couldn't flip it around. £30 plus postage if necessary, or could arrange delivery to Coventry/north warks area.

    Top Gear

So what was everyone's favourite GT car from the show? I've always been a Lambo man, so I might be biased, but it's interesting that the Gallardo was arguably the most discreet and elegant car there, baring in mind Lambo's are usually festooned with wings and spoilers, where as the traditionally subtle and tasteful Aston, with all it's vents and bulges, was a bit.....dare I say it.....vulgar? Ducks for cover....

    Top Gear! Again

They have their speed-hump rule, which is why that Caparo thing got booted off the lap-time list, which I suspect would affect the Ultima too. Or if you're in to conspiracies, I did read something (on here possibly) about some fallout between Clarkson, Noble and the Ultima guy??

    Contaminated Fuel

Just a thought - I'd imagine the petrol station tanks are supposed to be fairly well sealed, but what's the weather been like in your neck of the woods the last few days? Maybe a torrential downpour could have somehow contaminated the tank? Good result anyway.

    Going To Court

Sorry to drift off topic slightly, but this got me thinking whatever happened to Enforcer???
  10. There's your problem Just kidding. You get fuel down the car by running fuel pipe from the tank to the engine, usually down the tunnel (being careful to avoid the propshaft and any other moving/electrical parts). Be aware that there's different types of fuel pipe for low pressure (carb) and high pressure (injection) applications. You can use high pressure pipe for low pressure applications, but not vice-versa, so if you ever want to upgrade to throttle bodies or something similar, I suggest using high pressure stuff from the start! For SVA/IVA regs you need to secure the fuel pipe with a clip every so often (don't know the exact figure but it's something like 6") Standard supply pipe is usually 8mm and return is 6mm using the sender you've got. The supply pipe is the longer one, but you may have to add an extension to make it reach to the bottom of your tank. You might not want it to reach right to the bottom though as it will suck up any crap in the tank, or fit a pre-pump filter. You can fit an external swirl pot, or keep/find a Sierra fuel/air separator which acts as a mini-swirl pot, though I've never had any mid-corner fuel starvation problems with this setup. The sender is wired with the case to earth and the signal to your fuel gauge. The fuel tank sits with the hole at the top. Fitting the sender is where you have to get clever. Welcome to the wonderful world of Robin Hood! Whatever solution you come up with will invariably involve cutting or at least drilling the tank in some way, so be careful to hoover out any swarf before you put fuel in! Good luck. edit: I forgot to add; while you're drilling holes you might want to consider fitting a breather pipe. Run the pipe to the highest point in the system then out to vent somewhere safe, or run it back into the filler pipe.

    Petrol Tank

.....Alternatively, the reason I have mine for sale is I'm having a new one made up to a custom design that improves the usable space in the boot whilst increasing capacity to around 56 ltrs, which should give a standard pinto a range of about 300 miles. It also has a built in swirl pot and breathers, etc. ...I won't make any bones about the fact it'll be ruddy expensive (relative to a second-hand hoodie tank), but if any one's interested we could potentially get the price down a bit for a batch? (2B owners only though (and maybe sub-k??) - sorry!)

Right, it's: 1050mm long 150mm wide (deep) 244mm tall (with an additional flange taking it to 264mm) It has two holes, one for the filler pipe, one for the fuel sender. 14. Right, it's all starting to make sense. Cheers

    Petrol Tank

Bare with me, I'll fetch my tape measure........
  16. Thanks for ther replies. What I had in mind is actually an engine brace (I have my exhaust the same as Nigel's diagram). So I think 'B' is the way forward. Cheers.
  17. Hi Gavin, What did you do with the end that passes through the new bearing and fits in the extra u/j? Did you have to 'shape' the end of the original steering shaft, because isn't the new bearing designed to accept a triangle shaft? Cheers.
  18. Which way should I fix a mini style exhaust bobbin in order to dampen a movement from side to side (in the horizontal plane), A, B or C (see pic)? Cheers.

    Petrol Tank

I've got a tank going spare if you still need one? It's a Robin hood stainless 40 ltr tank. Used but good nick, and unmodified. It's from a 2B, so don't know if it'll fit an S7 but let me know if you're interested and I'll post some dimensions. £30.
  20. Thankyou both. Paul, if you could mail me a picture of how you mounted the bearing I'd be most grateful. Cheers.
  21. Has anyone added an additional universal joint to their steering column, to kind of dog-leg it around/away from the exhaust, and if so how'd you do it; part numbers, piccies, etc??? Cheers Joel.

    Stafford Show

Regarding the raffle ticket issue; rather than the slightly awkward situation of checking for valid membership on how ever many hundred people you give tickets to, would it not be easier to ask the winner(s) (3 people max?) to present their valid membership cards on collection of the prize?
  23. I was holding off to see what the weather was doing, and it looks like Saturday's the better day, so count me in. I'll be with the Coventry massive on the A5.
