  1. Just what I did. Didn't use an ironing board though; bought some mesh from B&Q NO overheating problems whatsoever and my grill mesh is smaller Now give some thought to painting a design
  2. Used mine on the bike with the supplied handlebar mount. Ten minutes on a reasonably smooth path killed it. It's not very robust!

    Club Discounts

    Hear hear! (Pun intended).
  4. I'd just like to say a big thank you from me and all at Hearing Dogs for the support and sponsorship I have received from the good people of RHOCAR over two London Marathons. I set out in November 2008 to try to raise enough money to provide a Hearing Dog for one profoundly deaf person on the waiting list (currently two years) and also to prove to myself that I could be healthier and fitter as I turned 40. It took me two marathons to do it, but my final sponsorship tally will be just a little shy of SIX THOUSAND POUNDS! So thank you thank you thank you! RHOCAR officially sponsors the Dog's B*ll*cks! Sunday 17th April 2011 was a little too hot for comfort and it was a tough day, but I managed a personal best time of 3 hours, 29 minutes and 16 seconds. I intend to continue to run marathons, and have entered the ballot for the 2012 London Marathon but this time I will doing it for myself. Crossing the finish line! Who knows, maybe next year there will be more than one RHOCAR member in the race .... Rich

    She Passed

Nice one Pete. Mine passed last week, after a little bit of carb tweaking from a friendly tester who was determined it was going to get through! And only cost £20 where I go!

Thanks everyone! Day 2 now and I can go upstairs again without holding on to the rails! (coming down is still a very different story). Spent the day yesterday being dragged around the science museum, plus all the tubes and stairs between Chiswick and Kensington. There's only so much that ibuprofen can do! Thankfully Mr Fuller was there for me again! See you at Stoneleigh and thanks again for all the support and to everyone who sponsored me.

Oh I was there alright! Too bl@@dy hot but didn't spoil a fantastic day. Managed to crack the sub 3:30 marathon with an official time of 03:29:16 I'm staying in Chiswick opposite the Fullers London Pride brewery so I think tomorrow a tour is in order!
  8. Big thanks to everyone who has chipped in today: Grizzly, Peter Ray, Pete 2b, Baxter and Spencer, Steve & Laura (and then Laura again - double brucie bonus!), Richard, Ian & Carole and everyone else who has contributed since I started this. This is an amazing club I'll try to post my time on Sunday afternoon and of course will have to be prepared to produce the medal at Stoneleigh! Rich
  9. Giving this one last 'bump' - less than 48 hours to go now! Here's some wishful thinking ... One last sponsorship plea!! JustGiving 90,000 feet climbed. 150,000 calories burned 35 lbs of fat evaporated 1100 miles run in training 26.2 to go..... wish me luck! Rich
  10. My old school! I'd better check the diary to see if I'm free for that one

    New Exhaust

Well.... Car back on the road and perfect weather to blow away the winter cobwebs. So does it rev up to the red bits (for the first time)? Yep. Does it make a difference? Holy cr*p yes! Unbelievable difference in performance now that the engine can finally breath properly and get rid of everything the DGMS pumps in. I fair near cr*pped myself- even pulled in the harness straps as tight as they would go The flexi joint is working well and is cancelling out virtually all of the vibration and also supporting the front end of the silencer well. It remains to be seen whether this will stand the test of time though (may need support at the front) Downside: it's not as quiet as I had hoped, although it wasn't excessive and I have spent the last 4 years driving round with a tin can full of pan scourers and extra glass matting. I don't know whether it would meet the noise levels for a track day, but then again I don't know that it wouldn't either! Next job: HEAT SHIELD!!!!!!!!!!!

    Banged Up!

If you fancy a laff have a look at these video clips of my arrest, incarceration and finally release from custody after 24 hours locked in a police cell dressed as a dog! Part 1 Part 2 Still taking sponsors at www.justgiving.com/hearing-dog-plod 2 weeks to go!!! Rich

    New Exhaust

Not repackable, but at that price I'd be happy to replace every couple of years. The flexi pipe takes care of where a bend would be needed but also takes care of the rigidity issue where vibration can be passed on to the car.

    New Exhaust

Just replaced the exhaust system on my 2B - finally got rid of the dreadful factory twin pipe which strangled the airflow. The downpipes into 2" stainless came from Dave R (Thanks Dave) and the stainless T304 silencer came from these guys on ebay: MIJ Exhausts Can certainly recommend these guys; good quick turnaround and built exactly to my specs. The price is extremely good value for the quality of the product, but the proof will be in the pudding, so to speak. They also supplied the flexi joint. The silencer is 6" x 18" and is a standard item in their range for £45. They only charged me another tenner to add a 2" inlet pipe and the 2" stainless tight 90 degree bend for the tail pipe. After knocking up a DIY bracket to support the rear of the silencer I finally got around to firing it up tonight. Nice deep, throaty sound but now for the first time I can rev right up to the red line. Could never managed beyond about 4500 with the old system. Just need to get some road tax now for next month and can't wait to feel the difference!
  16. If I were you I would be marching back to Just Tyres and asking to speak to the manager. You can then suggest that they do something to put the matter right otherwise you will be referring the matter to your local Trading Standards.

    2b Stainless Exhaust

Here's one ending today on ebay - could be a bargain but worth bearing in mind that most people don't stick with the standard RH system for long. It's not brilliant. Stainless 4:1 manifold & silencer
  18. Done. Absolutely. Wonderful story; wonderful daughter. Rich
  19. Happy Birthday o keeper of the dungeons!
  20. Don't upset yourself. Crack a beer and go watch Top Gear on Dave. Stay clear of the news channels
  21. Stand by .... fire in the hole .... You'll be driving the porcelain bus by bedtime ...
  22. Not been a great week Daz, has it? Ok if you are going to retire by 2015, but this doesn't help me. 2018 would be the earliest I could have gone, but now I'll have done 40 years before I see my (reduced and more expensive) pension. What they are not saying on the news is that we have been paying 11% into our pensions... If I was younger in service I would have scooped up the family and gone to Aus years ago. Sadly I'm not convinced that the grass is greener anywhere over the channel. Time for some garage therapy
  23. Confucious also say man who goes through airport turnstile sideways is going to Bangkok Oh and the curry? I wouldn't.

Can't deny that ... targets set by guess who?...

    A Great Day

It does make a difference mate. If it's an 'outbuilding' (like a garden shed) it's a 'non-dwelling' burglary. Unlikely to attract the interest of CID. However if the garage/building is integral to the house then it becomes a 'Dwelling' burglary - different kettle of fish and usually the DCI is held to account over the volume and detection rates for this type of offence. However as far as I am concerned this isn't a 'shed break' where an old bike and a strimmer are nicked - this is a professional, targeted and high-value theft. Nuff said!
